Safe community and convenient

I mostly like the convenience of this area. Being around everything and minutes away from hospital or train station makes you feel at ease and knowing you don’t have to worry about getting somewhere on time. Being around essential shopping makes it much better for you as I can wake up in the morning and if I see no milk or eggs, no worries. Just walk to Asda a few seconds away, or even Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s minutes way . I’d say the atmosphere however isn’t the most lively . It’s quite dull over the years , mostly because it is largely dominated by one community . It would be nicer if there was more ethnicities ! The place however is perfect for kids as schools are just around the corner. And parks to roam with your pets. There’s already been many more buildings built so more people joining however it could make it even more packed if more and more people keep coming here therefore this could create parking issues in the future .

Transport

There are no issues with transportation in e1, many underground stations TFL and overground just minutes away. Also there are bus stops every road, where a bus would come every 5-10 minutes, which travel to anywhere you would like to go if it’s the city , it takes you straight there in under half an hour.

Community

Every week there are bin collection, to take away your bags piled up. There could be traffic noise sometimes if there is a junction on the road. Mostly families live here so it’s quite safe with young children therefore I have not seen any anti social behaviour. For parking there is only availability given by the council to those who live on the street which is good so no one can steal your space .

Amenities

In this area of E1 there are many useful essential stores and shopping for your daily groceries just minutes or seconds away! There are also many activities to do such as leisure centres or gyms and local parks to go do your daily exercise. There are also many different types of restaurants and bars near , with good quality food for cheap prices ! If you have children , there would be many local schools for infants, primary and secondary , colleges and unis , so this would not be a hassle. Hospital and GP’s are also local only minutes away. I’d say E1 is the most convenient place to live as you cannot stress any less being here with everything around you , literally everything.

A great area, with all you need to live!

The area is really safe which is good for families. I like that the area is quiet and is so pretty (Arnold Circus, Columbia Road) However, I feel that it's becoming too trendy and its losing its soul at times, specially when we are closer from Shoreditch. But I wouldn't move in anywhere else !

Transport

The public transport is very good: Bethnal Green is on the Central line, there is also the Overground with Shoreditch High Street, Bethnal Green or Cambridge Heath Stations. There are a lot of busses, going to Central London, or other parts of the city like Kings Cross or Stratford. However, some bus routes have changed in the past years which reduced the possibilities, but it's still very easy to get to Central London in 30mn. I would say that more bike lanes would be an improvement for the area, specially on Bethnal Green Road or Hackney Road.

Community

My street is usually pretty quiet, even though being so close from Shoreditch High Street and all the bars and restaurants in the area. There is very few traffic on my street which is a positive! Most of the people living in my street are families or couples. Most of them are renters.

Amenities

I have been living in the E2 area for 7 years, and I can say that we have everything we need. There are a lot of local independent shops, which are great for presents, but there is also a good amount of grocery stores, which is very handy. This goes from the small cornershop, to the big supermarket, via off licence offering a good range of products. The restaurants are some of the best in town, we have a very large variety and it's easy to have a taste of different cuisine in the area, Indian, Vietnamese, Mediterranean and much more. There are also a lot of trendy bars and more quite pubs, which can accommodate people in their 20's as well as older people. There are also a lot of friendly coffee shops. We are also lucky to have a few parks, such as Haggerston Park, with the he nearby Hackney City Farm (perfect for the kids) or Weavers Fields. The most popular area would be Columbia Road, famous for its flower market and its lovely shops. Another landmark would be the V&A museum of Childhood, which can be enjoyed by everyone. There are cinemas, libraries, good schools and good medical facilities.

Not feeling safe is the worst part of living in this area

Not feeling safe is the worst part of living in this area. Needs a complete renovation.

Transport

Bit far away from the tube station but is doable. Transport links have a good service and it’s always easy to get back no matter where you’re travelling from at what time of day.

Community

Close to a McDonalds, close to a hospital. Tesco express is useful for grabbing what you need. Bin collections regular.

Amenities

Good food options but not much else to do. Not many bars around or places with fun activities. Needs more open space as currently feels very cramped.
