It's a very trendy area, undergone gentrification and so there are alot more young upper-class individuals moving into the area as the old reprobates from before have moved out and into different areas, there's alot of development around my area including the building of new accommodation and houses.
Transport
There are two main stations relatively close, Blackhorse lane Station is just down the road and Walthamstow Central station is also just down the road, there can be traffic coming from either side depending on rush hour and trains are fairly okay when it comes to cleanliness and maintenance. Busses do run until midnight however so it could be better.
Community
The area is nice and clean however there is a little bit of traffic noise from cars and such due to my road being a main road, down the street there is a student accommodation however my neighbours are nice as I've been living here all my life.
Amenities
I grew up in this area, and growing up it was somewhat rough around the edges, there were a few gangs here and there such as priory court and the Mali boys down the road in Walthamstow but as gentrification came the area upgraded considerably, its a very safe neighbourhood with a thriving community, a very accessible train station (Blackhorse Lane) lays just down the road in a straight line and there's even a nice Comic book shop on the way (Krypton Comics). The E17 area is a multicultural melting pot with all sorts of people living in and around it, the streets are recently paved so the ground looks nice and clean with a local Co-op and Europe's longest market being around 30 minutes walking distance. Lloyd's Park is a fairly busy place due to its natural scenery and the skate park that is good for any children interested in skateboarding, restaurants such as Le Delice and others along the way to walthamstow are popular and thrive even during this pandemic, there's even a cinema as you get deeper into Walthamstow. As a rule of thumb, walthamstow is very populated and popular due to tha market and the shopping centers, it serves as a local community hub as there are loads of kind people that are helpful with finding places and locations.
Awesomestows Best Kept Secret
The area is safe with lovely residents and a multicultural accepting community. Everything is literally available on your doorstep within a 5 minute walk.
Transport
Walthamstow Central bus and tube station is about a 5 minute walk. Expect it to be very busy in the mornings around 8am (pre-covid), however being the first stop on the Victoria line, it’s the best place to get on.
Community
Having lived on this road for almost 30 years, I can safely say that it is one of the most amazing neighbourhoods. The people are friendly with no anti social behaviour met.
Amenities
Living right next to the market brings a huge array of amenities, from a 24 hour gym, multiple supermarkets, a cinema, a train station connecting you to London city central within 20 minutes, multiple restaurants (including Halal ones!) and the once longest outdoor market in Europe all within a few minutes walk. For the Muslims there’s also a mosque on the next road, and a church around the corner for the Christians.
How good is Walthamstow Really?
My area has been going through a lot more regeneration is the past decade so it’s definitely being modernised to say the least. I’d say defiantly for places for children to go and enjoy themselves and be safe us 100% needed in my area! But I do for the most part enjoy my area.
Transport
Being in Zone 3 is good as it gives good access to get into London as well as time not wasted if going to zone 6 or 7. It’s the same case with the buses good transport going into London as well as out of London. Rush hour especially on Hoe street can be a real problem as well as forest road.
Community
I have a house with a driveway so parking isnt an issue for me personally. Parking has become a lot harder especially due to the restrictions as well as schools now claiming areas of the road so kids can stay safe. I’m not sure of the job types of people who love on my street are if I’m being honest but all of them have families. Bin collection and traffic is very good. Hardly any noise is made on my street apart from school pick ups.
Amenities
The most popular areas are obviously the market and Walthamstow Central where the cinema, Nando’s etc are. Other areas including Epping forest, and Lloyds park. I think more youth centres around the area would be beneficial, give the area more if a home feeling!
The area is really nice and calm but it can be a bit of hassle if you dont have a car
