East is growing vibrantly

The area I live in is very close to trendy and up-and-coming areas. There are dog parks located in the area for pet owners. This area is very safe for pets and children, as there are small parks (which do require an upgrade or some level of maintenance. There’s a very large pool of schools to choose from for your children. I love the convenience and value of my area and home. It is growing and becoming more and more lively. What I dislike is the youth that may be involved in gangs and crimes associated with gangs. The community is doing its best to tackle such problems with the use of community centres, placed to help improve the community.

Transport

There are conveniently placed bus stops which are easy to get to and all within walking distance. Buses arrive in a timely manner, usually with a display located on the bus stop to tell you how long each bus will take to arrive to that bus stop. London transport is all connected so no area is inaccessible. Train stations are rather close to each other, so reaching a location that may take too long to walk or bus to can be reached via the London Underground trains (less than 5 minutes to travel from station to station via trains), train times can also be seen (as well as the service status) from screens shown within the stations. Some stations (including London overground stations) even support disabled access. If you’re not a fan of public transport, there’s an array of taxi services working in these areas. There has been an increase of cycle lanes and even cycle only zones for those that travel on bicycles. One thing to be wary of is the rush hour. Particularly in areas closer to Central London, it is typically advised to leave slightly earlier to avoid the rush. London is always alive, no matter what the time is. Night transport is always available to use, night buses run up until 4 or 5am while certain train lines tend to close just after midnight. Buses and trains are usually clean enough to use, but after a busy day, empty cans, bottles, newspapers can be found scattered in them. The seats are also rather dusty too. In terms of convenience, public transport in these areas are perfect and affordable with a fair of £1.50 for buses (including the use of the hopper fair, which allows you to get on any other bus for free within then hour), and trains having their price vary between zones (£2.40 from zone 1 to 1, prices go up from there).

Community

The street at which I live on typically houses various types of people. People renting the property, home owners, couples, but mainly families. Students don’t typically live in these areas as the properties are too expensive to rent for a student. Families mainly live in my area as there’s a range of schools for children that are easy to get to. The area I live in offers parking spaces which can be bought with parking permits from the local council. If a person isn’t able to buy one of these parking permits, they can find a free parking space nearby. There’s traffic in these areas but they tend to go unnoticed as it’s only the occasional car/bike that travels down the road. Bin collections take place on a weekly basis with community bins located just outside of our homes, this includes recycling bins and regular waste bins.

Amenities

There are various restaurants, bars, clubs supermarkets, etc. scattered around E2. I am situated in or near Shoreditch. In or near this location, there are various and convenient train stations that would take you to the heart of London and to the edge of London. Shoreditch on its own is very vibrant and an up-and-coming area. There’s the Brewdog bar located on Bethnal Green road, situated near boxpark which is beside the Shoreditch Highstreet Station. Costa coffee can be found on this road as well as a small but lively cinema called Rich Mix. The road stretching from Shoreditch town hall down to Old Street (including the branching streets) have various bars and clubs, Ballie Ballerson is one club which features an indoor pool filled with plastic balls. There are conveniently placed gyms/leisure centres and community centres placed near residential areas which helps keep up with events taking place near home as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle. E2 offers a exciting restaurants, particularly Asian fusion, Indian, Turkish, African, Caribbean, Thai and more. Not forgetting brands such as KFC, Subway, McDonalds and a new German Donner kebab that will be opening up in Bethnal Green.

Most eclectic area in London

I like the vibe a lot, it’s a safe area and with a lot of safe open spaces for children making it an ideal place for families

Transport

The transportation is excellent it has plenty of bus routes going from Liverpool Street to places like Enfield, Stratford, Ilford. The night buses go from the west end to Romford and Walthamstow all going through e1

Community

The LiveableStreets street initiative has cut down on traffic noise and due to some very good primary Colombia primary and Virginia primary schools it mostly families in the area

Amenities

This area is includes shoreditch high street and Colombia rd,it has really good restaurants and amazing night spots. There is pizza east ( pre lockdown) which was always buzzing, there is Boxpark which has amazing restaurants to suit every taste from vegan to raging carnivore and everything in between, favourite is blackbear burger which is 😋😋😋. There is the flower market every Sunday on Colombia rd which can’t be beat the shops are also little gems which can’t copied anywhere else the art galleries have amazing pieces. Then there is bricklane which has the best beigals in London, that’s just a fact and of the street there is a park full of amazing graffiti( accessible art for the masses) also a plethora of restaurants and on Sunday it’s transformed into a shopping area with amazing stalls with everything from art to clothes from artisans all over the globe and the food is everything from vegan Ethiopian food to regional Malaysian food. I could go on but I couldn’t communicate the atmosphere in words it has to be experienced. After lockdown and vaccinations of course, stay safe

Good for families or people who want to live relatively cheap and want good connections to better places.

It's a blend of its former edgy coffee hipster vibes, its nearby residential council builds and its push for it to be a night out high street. It's certainly not trendy any longer. The more bars and restaurants open, the less independent shops and stores exist, therefore pushing away the creatives and the young. On the other side is very dull and by the numbers. However it's fairly good for families as it's not too close to those bars.

Transport

Bus stops are not far at all and they take you into Soho or down through the river without much need to change bus. Old Street station is under 10 minute's walk and Liverpool is under 20. So the options for underground lines are quite good, but obviously it accumulates depending on your need to go to Liverpool Street or not.

Community

It is quiet in a sense, that the roads nearby are so small they would rarely be used compared to the main road they connect to. It's mostly families renting from the council so it feels very safe. The gated doors keep people out who don't have a pass, but even then the area seems fine. The parking is permit only in the block, but there are quite a few free parking spots within walking distance. Bin collection is good. Lots of large bins that are collected weekly.

Amenities

The area sits between the bar filled street of Old and the residential region of Hoxton. The great thing about this area is you are walking distance to both (so have food shops, schools, restaurants and bars all near) and also not far from Brick Lane, Box Park and Liverpool Street. However the supermarkets are small, the best coffee shops are somewhat too far for a casual pick up for home and the bars are bad.
