Well connected, up and coming neighbour with plenty of outdoor space to explore

The area feels to be up and coming, a number of developments are under construction so in a couple of years it’ll look like a new ‘destination’ hopefully with new shops, restaurants and bars to go with it.

Transport

Excellent transport links available, a less than five minute walk to Bromley by Bow station (District/Hammersmith and City lines). Buses to Canary Wharf, Stratford and Central London. Also local Boris Bike stand connecting to the cycle superhighway. All transport running frequently including night buses and whilst in zone 2/3 can always get a seat.

Community

As a new development, it’s well maintained with a mix of social housing, renters and owners. There is a community feel and anti social behaviour is low.

Amenities

Bromley By Bow is transforming with industry making way for new apartments. That said, local business haven’t caught up to this - so there are minimal local shops and restaurants to match the growing population. Apart from the Tesco superstore, there are limited ‘local’ shops within a short walking distance. There are also minimal restaurants, the canalside Printhouse is a short walk near the new Sugar House Island development - offering gastro pub type food, a large outdoor area and multiple bar areas. The new developments should come with more cafes/bars but are a few years away from completion. A twenty minute walk to Hackney Wick and you’re spoiled for choice for bars/cafes with a East London vibe. Plenty of outdoor space, from wandering the canals, the park by Three Mills or a short run to Victoria or the Olympic park; there’s plenty of options for anyone willing to explore.

There’s hardly every anything bad to say about the area you have lived in for the past 20 years

There’s not much else to say other than the fact that the area is animal friendly

Transport

The one very good benefit of Tower Hamlets specifically in transport we have busses that pass through and their end location heads right into the heart of London we also have travel links via train that take us to either main line stations or international ones too. Additionally half the busses take us directly in front of the tube station which means we are never late to work.

Community

The parking in the area is amazing lots of public parking available either for permit holders or for passer by. There’s hardly ever any traffic noises as there’s only one main called Bow Road

Amenities

The borough of tower hamlets has its ups and downs but places like bow and Mile End have more negatives. On the other hand the council has enchanted the area with a lot of security making sure every road has a active CCTV camera looking over the streets of tower hamlets keeping us all safe. The 20 years I have lived here I have seen the council evolve from being a dumb site turned into homes. There are plenty of local shops near enough every turn you make you’ll see either a off license or corner shop that has everything you need for your household shopping. The area doesn’t really have that many restaurants as it’s a borough populated with a load of families. Open spaces are one thing that Tower Hamlets council have made sure that the area has for example three mills park just off the A12, perdy park, Mile End park, Archibald park the bow commons and plenty more greenery spaces for everyone to enjoy, unfortunately due to the current pandemic we won’t be having a fun fair in the local park of ours as that could increase the death rate. There’s not much that’s missing in the local area as this borough is a very large area and has near enough everything inside it which means people do not need to travel a great to go and grab their essentials.

Regeneration is happening - slowly

The area has clearly undergone regeneration but the new schemes lack amenities and reasons for people to stay in the area. It is only here to live at the moment and be deserted in the day for people at work elsewhere and no social aspects. The regeneration of neighbouring areas will hopefully bring much needed residents services to the area

Transport

The ease of getting to Stratford, Canary Wharf and the City by tube is evidently good. The roads are always extremely busy at rush hour and suffer massively from high pollution levels. Travelling north is difficult as it can only be done by road and therefore suffers from traffic problems

Community

My street is mostly renters or those in first time buyer schemes consisting of young couples and families. There aren’t many positives of living in the street, except there is a sense of community with the neighbours

Amenities

The local area lacks a lot of those amenities you’d expect to find in an area as densely populated as E3. Other than supermarkets there are very few specialist shops that then require a trip to Stratford or the City or Canary Wharf. It also lacks from decent local pubs with them very few and far between. Mile End has the majority of the pubs and restaurants, whereas the eastern end of Bow Road has two pubs and no restaurants at all. Living here is only for the location of its proximity to other places like Stratford, Hackney Wick and the ease of getting to the City and Canary Wharf. There is no reason for this area of Bow other than dense housing and little in terms of amenities
