Most eclectic area in London
I like the vibe a lot, it’s a safe area and with a lot of safe open spaces for children making it an ideal place for families
The transportation is excellent it has plenty of bus routes going from Liverpool Street to places like Enfield, Stratford, Ilford. The night buses go from the west end to Romford and Walthamstow all going through e1
The LiveableStreets street initiative has cut down on traffic noise and due to some very good primary Colombia primary and Virginia primary schools it mostly families in the area
This area is includes shoreditch high street and Colombia rd,it has really good restaurants and amazing night spots. There is pizza east ( pre lockdown) which was always buzzing, there is Boxpark which has amazing restaurants to suit every taste from vegan to raging carnivore and everything in between, favourite is blackbear burger which is 😋😋😋. There is the flower market every Sunday on Colombia rd which can’t be beat the shops are also little gems which can’t copied anywhere else the art galleries have amazing pieces. Then there is bricklane which has the best beigals in London, that’s just a fact and of the street there is a park full of amazing graffiti( accessible art for the masses) also a plethora of restaurants and on Sunday it’s transformed into a shopping area with amazing stalls with everything from art to clothes from artisans all over the globe and the food is everything from vegan Ethiopian food to regional Malaysian food. I could go on but I couldn’t communicate the atmosphere in words it has to be experienced. After lockdown and vaccinations of course, stay safe
There are not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity but there are some hidden bars that are good.
Priority is given to the people who have recently moved in above the needs of the existing residents. For example parking is reduced to accommodate walking spaces for new flats resident but it leaves many car owners unable to park.
Transport is excellent, London Overground runs consistently as well as buses that go into Central London. There are a couple of Boris bike stands too. However buses do get packed in the morning.
The good aspect of living on my street is there is a mix of residents, elderly, students, young couples etc. Everyone is friendly and up for a friendly chat.
Local shops are great - they offer fresh fruit and veg as well as all other day to day items. There are also a couple of 24 hour shops which are handy. There are not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity but there are some hidden bars that are good.
There is absolutely NO traffic noise around.
A lot of accessibility to stuff easily; Tesco, parking, schools, etc.
Rush hour around this area is absolutely fine until you get to dalston! The traffic lasts up to 5+ minutes. Of course, there are shortcuts that only contains bearable traffic during rush hour. The buses are always a min or two away so we don’t even have to worry about that!
There is absolutely NO traffic noise around. Unless there’s ambulance, etc. Neighbours are kind; someone sneezed very loud in summer and got kind replies “bless you!” You can get along with the neighbours as soon as you talk. Parking availability is okay. A lot of space to park for permit holders for low cost.
The range of corner shops are amazing! If i want a late night snack and there’s nothing at home; it’s sorted! I can walk in less than a min i got my snack. The litter is very rare because of the bins. Even though i’ve never seen dog poop anywhere, there are cats that tend to poop in the porch. The cats are from neighbours in the estate. From the amount of cats there are, you can tell that there are mice around! I will be honest! But only in the winter. In the summer there’s none. So just make sure your house is ‘squeaky’ clean before you go bed and see stuff eaten by the morning. The mice are always hiding so it’s best to have a pet cat around. If not, you can book the landlord/etc to make the mice go away!
There are a lot of green spaces (public parks, a farm, playgrounds), plenty of bars and restaurants
