I like the central location and proximity to shops , transport and local amenities/I dislike anti-social behaviour from young people and lack of parking. I wouldn't recommend a friend move here if they have young children or pets, as very limited open space.

Transport links are very good! Barking is a hub for commuters into and out of London , so there's national rail links in addition to the underground. There's also a good network of buses, although no trams. Cycle routes are plentiful too. Barking also serves the A13 motorway linking Essex to the rest of London and the A406 connecting East to North London and beyond. All in all the transport links are fairly reliable.

The high street is dominated by mainly ethnic shops varying from hairdressing accessories to groceries. Hardly any bars but quite a few pubs. Open spaces are limited for the volume of people as there is a high concentration of flats and high rise buildings around the town square, the parks are not greatly equipped and mainly consist of green space and benches (there are hardly any swings, few play and gym equipment etc). The restaurants are varied but tend to offer mainly Asian and oriental cuisine.

I think that the area is all right. It is not the best area in London but for sure it is the most afordable. For many people who leave here it could feel like heaven compare to the countries where there come from. It is suitable for family with children and pets
Transport
There are lots of transport links from Barking station. National rail C2C with 20min journey to the City. Also London Overground serve here and ofcourse London underground with District line and Hammersmith an city line and many buses as well

I think that on my street there are many good things. First of all it is not very busy one eventhough it is very close to the Barking center. We have free resident parking which is on the street as well. Bin collection is done every week. Anti-social behaviour is like everywhere in London. There is a bit train noise from the rail lines but it is bearable

There are lots of shops in the area like big Tesco, big Asda, Lidl, big Sainsburys and so many other local shops like Bulgarian, Romanian, Latvian, Turkish. Four days per week there are local market on high street which is quite good. There are 2 Costa coffe shops and some other brands. Also there are some restourants. The most beautifull atraction for me is Barking park which is really nice. There is 1000m long lake with variaty of wild life. The park is very well look after.
