My favourite part of my area is the absence of discrimination and judgment sparking welcoming relations towards all different people. As a Muslim immigrant mother I have felt welcomed and appreciated and I am very grateful to live within such an environment where I can experience such a variety of cultures. I am proud that my children can grow to learn within a large bright community and have the opportunities that any parent would want. E.g. I have three young daughters who have all been part of a free local playgroup where not only my kids have made relations but also myself with other parents. This small opportunity has a large scale affect on the neighbourhood ranging from increasing mental health and happiness aswell as strengthening the community. This is just one example of why it’s a pleasure to be part of my local area. What I believe would benefit our area is regeneration of very old buildings and making use of ruined spaces. It would make the environment more aesthetically pleasing and increase attractive sites all around. Once the global pandemic settles it would be very enjoyable to have community events for everyone to heal together and come together once again after a troubled time for many many locals. This would hopefully also have an affect on the crime rates and make the surroundings feel a little safer for the future generations.

The transport facilities available are very helpful with regular attendance and as a mother of 3 young kids I am especially grateful to the services provided.

Apart from the occasional noise pollution, the community is very welcoming. However that’s not to say it’s a very safe community. My surrounding neighbourhood is regularly involved with crime but I am aware that many areas endure similar issues aswell.

I am so blessed to be living in a community where I can openly express my values. I have the pleasure of being part of a welcoming environment to be myself and gain knowledge of the various bright cultures all around me. I appreciate the number of opportunities available to be creative and partake in for all demographics ranging from the youngest to eldest of ages. I would appreciate if there were to be an increase in the number of community events to rekindle the proud spirit after a period of hardship once the covid pandemic is over.

What I like the most about my area is the convenient location and accessibility to services needed from day to day. I would say it could do with a bit of regeneration and modernisation in terms of aspect and the flats which seem to be getting old, such as the one I live in. The area is safe for children and pets and close to parks and green spaces for recreation. Only a bus journey away, Hampstead heath is one of my favourite retreats where anyone can enjoy a day out with family and pets.
Transport
Buses are always reliable, as well as the tube and the overground. It has a great advantage for not being one of the busiest areas to live in, as well as the bakerloo line not being so popular - even during rush hours, the carriage feels always comfortable to travel in, instead of packed. Cleanliness is certainly taken seriously during this pandemic. Traffic can get a little bit busy during rush hour by bus towards Central London, as I've had the experience to be delayed around 30 minutes due to traffic jam in Marble Arch. Otherwise, every location feels very easily accessible from my area.
Community
I believe around this area there is a variety of people, from young people to elderly, families and couples with children who can be seen on the high street after class. Both owners and renters. During the day, the high street is busy - more uncomfortably one would feel passing by beggars at times, however they don't seem to cause issues find a place to stay during the night. The streets are empty and quiet at night. In terms of parking, it seems difficult for one to find any availability as most homeowners also park their cars on the side road and there is no private parking space. Bin collection is always reliable.
Amenities
The area I live in is incredibly well situated in relationship to essential shops and services. Both the tube and overground services are within 5 minutes' reach, as well as the high street where there is a variety of services, shops and big supermarkets which make living & shopping very accessible. I also appreciate that this area is well-kept, quiet during the night and full of life and diversity during the day, and it feels safe for one who works during unsociable hours. To add on this, the connection to Central London is very, very comfortable, having a lot of regular bus routes even throughout the night, and the tube journey to Oxford Circus only taking 15 minutes. It definitely feels like a hidden gem for living conveniently.
