The most I like about the area is how close it is to central London, without having to deal with all the problems that living in central London presents, such as very busy public transport and noise/light pollution. The area is undergoing gentrification slightly in some parts but still has some council flats and old housing. It is very suitable for children and pets, with several parks and playgrounds, and good primary and secondary schools nearby.
Transport
The area is very well serviced by both buses and the London Underground. There are bus stops around every two minutes (walking), with buses arriving every 2-7 minutes. The buses, such as the 47 or the 188, can take you straight into central London and go on all through the night (with reduced frequency). The nearby station (Bermondsey station) only has the jubilee line, but it is only a few stops from considerably bigger stations with multiple lines, and as the jubilee line goes straight into central London, often there is no need to change line. The jubilee line trains come around every 2 minutes and also continue into the night with reduced frequency. There are also very large, monitored bike lanes, with their own traffic lights, all down the main road, so it is very easy to cycle if that is your normal mode of transport. The only issue with public transport in the area is how congested it gets during rush hour. It’s a really huge issue and can delay journey times by up to an hour, with both the Jubilee line waiting times becoming incredibly long, and the buses being stuck in very slow moving traffic.

There is limited parking availability as the area is serviced so we’ll by public transport. Bin collections are every Thursday and I have never had any issues with them. The area is close to several schools so is generally packed with teenagers around 9am and 3pm, but they mostly keep to themselves and do not present any danger. There are mostly families living in the area but there are some new buildings close to the river which have young couples living there too.

There is a good range of all types of food shops! The area is quite diverse so you have access to most types of cuisines, such as Japanese, Italian, Indian and Turkish, and simple chicken and chips if you’re looking for that. There is a really big park (Southwark Park) about 5minutes away, which is really pretty all year round and has a cute flower garden next to the lake (which has lots of pretty swans!), featuring lots of different types of plants and herbs, and a cool sundial. There is also good access to supermarkets and corner shops, with both a Tesco and a Sainsbury’s nearby. As it is so close to the river, there is a really cute scenic route you can take off of Mill Street, with views of the old docks and the London skyline, which takes you along several (slightly pricey) riverfront Italian restaurants all the way to Tower Bridge.

I love my local area , which is perfect for couples before they have children. I will say this area is entertaining with good access to cafe and beer. Very convenient with the great transport next work. One thing that is missing are sport field such as gym and sport center. I need to go to other area such as elephant and castle to do badminton / swimming. I saw a lot of pets owner , but I don't think there is enough pet facility nearby . This is a safe area but not Bermondsey, regeneration is needed in that area.

Great transport link. You can reach everywhere through London Bridge tube station . The tube station is being managed very well. It is clean and organised. However , it is the joint of transportation network, it is a bit crowded sometimes

As the area is very entertaining, sometimes there are many bottles left on the road . If people are living by the Main Street , noise from the crowd or traffic is a problem. As this zone 1 , I believe mostly they are the owners for couples.

I live nearby Malty Street Market. In there you can find lots of excellent cafe, craft beer and wine bar. People enjoy spending their weekend over there which bring a lot of energy into this neighbourhood. Within 10 mins walk , you can reach Borough Market which is another joy of food and drinks in it. Except the food, you can find Tate Morden and Tower Bridge very close by where you can have a seat and enjoy your peaceful moment. In terms amenities , it will be great to have more excellent restaurants joining this area and more facility for the public to hang around , sitting , chilling in this area

Lack of nearby tube station makes it difficult to commute anywhere and especially at late night. The nearest station is an overground which isn’t convenient to use due to its timings.

Bad aspects are the bad neighbours who are very rude and just today I saw a police van come to take some teen away as they had stolen something. The kids next door fire firework from their balcony that hits our building! No good aspects to discuss !

Immediately within my building, the quality of restaurants, shops is below average. Needs a massive make over! Open spaces aren’t kept clean and there aren’t that many nice opening spaces near the property. Would want to see more green and clean space. High end stores are missing as they are quite far (boots, H&M, etc)
