Nice affordable area at 10 mins from Central London

I've never felt unsafe in the area, even if I know in the past it had quite a reputation. It's a trafficked area, with not many private gardens so most pets live indoors where it's safer to be. This help keep the noise down, though, as you rarely hear barks.

Transport

There are two train stations at easy reach from the high street: Lewisham Station and Ladywell. From Lewisham Station, trains from and to London main stations are plenty all throughout the day. There is also the DLR, which brings you quickly to Canary Wharf. Buses, too, are plenty. Lewisham is in zone 2 so it takes 10 mins to reach London Bridge and 20 to Cannon Street and Victoria.

Community

An extensive, multi-tiered car park can be found at the shopping centre, and another small one with electric car charging points is situated just next to it (this latest one is currently being used as a Covid testing centre, though). Bins are emptyed nearly daily but it depends on the area you live in. The area is, for the most part, residential so it's quiet enough.

Amenities

Lewisham (SE13) has everything people living in the area need to live comfortably. There is a small but well furnished shopping centre which includes a Sainsburys', Argos, M&S, WH Smith and post office, Boots and other shops. It's at a 5 mins walk from the main train station. In the area there is also a big Tesco, a Lidl and not too far away also an Aldi. Near the station there is a well equipped sports centre with a pool and gym classes, which also skirts a small conservation area where a river passes through and green spaces can be enjoyed. At a 30 mins walk you can reach Greenwich and it's beautiful parks and observatory. Other well kept parks - at an easy to reach distance - are scattered around the area as well. The high street sees also a public library and other well known brands, as well as one of the best fresh vegetables street markets in London. Pubs, restaurants and cafes abound, too. What's missing is a cinema or theatre, which I think is being built now or will be soon. There isn't a bookshop, unfortunately, but there is a Waterstones in Blackheath.

Lovely atmosphere and area, suitable for childen or pets due to the nearby parks. I would consider this a very safe area, haven't had any issues to think differently.

Transport

Hither Green station is a 5 min walk where trains can take you to London Bridge, Waterloo and Charing Cross in 20 mins. Plenty of buses that can take you to Catford, Woolwich, Greenwich.

Community

Absolutely no traffic noise, a very quiet street. Lovely looks to Manor Park from the back windows. There are parking availability in front of each buildings. Not really a student area, more likely to see families and kids playing in the nearby parks.

Amenities

Lovely and quiet area with local shops nearby, including hairdressers, coffee shops, pharmacy, restaurants. There are several well maintained parks nearby as well. Lewisham shopping centre also offers a wide variety of shops in 15 mins walking distance.

It's really close the all the hyper scene in london without suffering from the effects of them. This makes it great peaceful sleep and busy living

The street is a quiet one filled with working families. It is close to parks were most of the activities happen. Since it is not on the main road it is quiet.

Amenities

Gilmore Road, Lewisham, London consists predominantly of flats, which is common in inner cities, student neighbourhoods and poorer suburban settings. It consist of mostly middle class people aged around 40. With most people having higher education. This makes the neighborhood a working one with little crime.
