Affordable area with good transport links

I like how convenient the transport links are but this area definitely feels like it's in need of regeneration and perhaps becoming more gentrified. I feel like the area is relatively safe but not 100% as I know the crime rate is high, though thankfully I haven't experienced it myself.

Transport

The transport links in Lewisham are quite good - there are train links to many central London stations and trains are quite frequent. There is also the DLR which is useful and many bus links. Sometimes the traffic can be bad in rush hour, and certain buses prioritise school children (also in rush hour), but otherwise the transport links are quite good. I'd say a Bakerloo line extension to Lewisham would be a great idea but would take a very long time to build.

Community

My estate has parking for residents, and the bins are communal which is convenient. The traffic can be heard from time to time but because the estate is not directly on the road it's not too bad. The estate has all kinds of people of all ages and walks of life, mostly private tenants and families with kids. There is not too much anti social behaviour.

Amenities

My local area has a good shopping centre, which has a range of chain stores, such as H&M, Next, Tkmaxx, Wilkinson and Primark. It also has an outdoor market where mostly fruit and vegetables are sold. There are navy cafes and restaurants, of varying quality. Unfortunately, other than a small coffee cart which operates by Lewisham Station, there is no quality coffee to be has in the Lewisham Central area. As far as open spaces, Blackheath is close by and very nice. To improve the area I'd say we need more high quality restaurants, like Sparrow, and third wave coffee shops. Also, it would be nice if there were more independent, non-chain shops.

Nice variety of neighbors

There is Aladdin's cave which is great for moving into an unfurnished property. Nice coffee shop across the road. The hilly fields park is great for walking my dog and it has its own coffee shop too.

Transport

St John's rail and Lewisham DLR are both within 10 minutes walk and can get you into central London in no time. The busses are regular enough they don't get too busy. There's definitely a general morning rush like everywhere but unless you need to get the bus to new cross for the overground, which is 5-7 mins on the bus anyway.

Community

It's very quiet, off the main road. Nice variety of neighbors students, families and couples who are all really friendly. Bin collection always on time so far can't complain.

Amenities

Loving this area. Moved to South East from North West last year. Amazing vibe, great park, super markets, pubs within 5 minutes. 10 minute walk to Lewisham centre. And the views to canary wharf are so nice especially at night.

Beautiful house but strong lack of community

If you have children I would recommend this area as it is quite quiet but if you have a dog I would not recommend as there is not a lot of green area for walking the animals

Transport

There are no stations within my immediate vicinity. But there are a few busses it is a limited selection. It would be best to catch a bus then switch later or get off at your desired station

Community

It is quite a boring area not a lot is going on and the community is essentially non-existent. If you travel out a bit further there are a lot of restaurants with a wide variety

Amenities

To be honest there are not a lot of good stores near my house or anything useful. They all require quite a long walk but it’s too short to just take the car which makes it quite frustrating. There are a few small green areas
