I believe the council feels the area is in need of regeneration and therefore proposed to knock down a lot of homes and shops in the area for ghastly, small, overlooked block of flats. I feel this will remove local amenities and force people to move who have lived here well over 20 years.

Great transport links. All within a 5-10 minute walk from my house I have bus stops to take me practically anywhere, from Kent to Central London. 2 train stations, taking just 7 minutes to get to London Bridge. And the DLR station in Deptford. Traffic is a big issue as it’s the main road to the A2 and cars can no longer frequent the bus lanes, but great for travelling on public transport!

My street has everything from student accommodation blocks, council flats and owned terrace houses. Private parking for my house, with communal bins collected regularly. However being a main road traffic noise is rather loud, however you do get used to it and the double glazing cuts out the majority of the noise, minus the sirens.

Living in New Cross I would say the local amenities are relatively decent, but mainly just because of the large student population of Goldsmiths. We have a lot of newsagent/off-licence type shops, along with Sainsbury’s (and a local), coffee shops (both chain and small business), laundrette and a multitude of pubs that mainly aim for students, although the New Cross Inn pulls in a wider crowd with live music. I would say that as New across is basically just a long road from Old Kent to the A2 there aren’t specifically popular areas, though having Deptford and Greenwich just down the road are popular and “upcoming”. Missing? I fish and chip shop!

Neighbourhood is quiet and very good neighbours are nice and there is a lot of travel options like bus, underground, overground and much more, there can be some rush hour issues on the main road but it’s not very common.

A lot of families live in the neighbourhood all friendly and there kids are great to have around to keep my kids entertained, there’s not much traffic noise and bin collections are great and there’s always parking available

Because of covid there hasn’t been much activity in the area, but it is extremely well placed and has a lot to offer, a lot of nice bars to go to for late nights on the weekends with the boys, nice restaurants to take my wife and kids and great weekly shopping locations, just sucks that covid is around.
