It's a very pretty suburb and lots of nice people about.

The traffic can be bad at school let out times...there are so many huge schools around here that the A205 can be rammed. Plus the coaches that go to the Dulwich Picture Gallery can often cause jams.

Transport

The trains around here are good. Ideally would want a tube too too, but can get to the Victoria line at Brixton ok. Trains from either Dulwich station are fine. The strikes can be annoying - but then I can walk to West Dulwich or North Dulwich easy so am not often stuck - they're on diff lines.

Community

It's a very pretty suburb and lots of nice people about. Just worry that my kids don't get shown much diversity. It's not cheap living here either. But I guess that is the price you pay for pretty tree lined streets.

Amenities

Nice area with a lot for us to do. Good for family needs - loads of big parks and playgrounds. The children's playground in Belair Park has a lovely play area with climbing frames, slide swings - small but fine. The skate park will be good for when the girls are older. So many schools in the area too - mainly private though. We like the cafe at Dulwich Picture Gallery. But there are loads in East Dulwich. Herne Hill shops are good too. We like the market there for a mooch on Sunday morning. Only grumble is that there's nowhere cheap or 'edgy'

Dulwich Village is a friendly place. Well served by shops and amenities.

Dulwich Village is a friendly place. Well served by shops and amenities. There is lots of public green space, historic trees and houses. We are well served by many private sports clubs.

Transport

Many bus route routes are available just out of the village. The P4 (Brixton to Lewisham) runs through the village centre every 15 minutes. The stations of North Dulwich and West Dulwich are both 10 minutes walk both with regular service into central London.

Community

The street is made up of large family houses with gardens. There is on street parking which can get busy. Road noise is not an issue and there is seldom anti-social behaviour. Bin collections are a weekly alternating service, general waste one week, recycling the next. Garden waste is weekly with a subscription.

Amenities

Dulwich village has a good general store, an excellent butcher and a independent wine merchant. There is a good bakery and a florist. There is a Pizza Express and a Real Greek restaurant and a excellent independent Italian restaurant Rocca do Pappa and a good coffee shop too. The local pub is know as ‘the Dog’ and is very popular with lots of outdoor seating. We have lots of outdoor space, most notably is Dulwich Park which has hire bikes, a boating lake, tennis courts and a cafe. There is the Dulwich Picture Gallery, a gem of a fine art gallery. It also has a coffee shop/cafe.

you'd be forgiven for mistaking South-East London's Dulwich for a Cotswold village on first sight.
