The amenities within walking distance is really a strong point - short trips can be made for groceries and the occasional takeaway without needing to take the car. The surrounding streets are usually very quiet, however if a more bustling and busy atmosphere is desired, this can be found a short distance away on the high street, where buses can be caught and friends can meet to eat out at restaurants and take-aways. Although the lack of an underground station can be frustrating, the perks of the area and the general safety and security still make it a very pleasant place to live and raise a family.

Transport links is not one of the strong suits of the area. There is only one overground station, and this tends to get very busy during peak times. However, bus routes are plentiful and buses are regular! Traffic is to be expected, with a large hospital and busy high streets nearby, but not unreasonable.

On street parking is plentiful, and usually a few bays are available throughout the day. The area remains fairly quiet throughout the day, and does not really experience significant anti-social behaviour. There are a mixture of residential dwellings in the area - houses with families, and apartments with couples and single professionals.

The area is just a short walk to Peckam Road, a high street with a great selection of restaurants and take-aways - you can grab an arab falafel, an italian pizza, or a traditional British fish and chips! To the east is Denmark hill, where popular chain stores can be found such as Greggs, McDonals, Superdrug and Poundland. An array of supermarkets are also found within close proximity, you are literally spoiled for choice. The street has a Morrisons, Lidl, and Co-op. While there are an abundance of food places, the area does lack clothing retailers (other than the odd independent business), so a quick pop into Primark or H&M is not possible. There are a few green spaces dotted around nearby also, however they are not significant in size, and the area is very much largely metropolitan. The greens are frequented by students from nearby university campuses, and medical students from Kings College Hospital, just a short distance away.

It is very well connected. There are lots of busses, close to overground and trains as well. The busses and trains have plenty of space and are relatively clean.

Some noise from construction on the street is disturbing. There is good parking and the neighbours are generally friendly, its a mix of older people, young professionals and families.

There are lots of nice cafes and restaurants serving a wide range of foods including falafel, pizza, Chinese, Vietnamese, fish and chips etc . There are several great parks such as Lucas gardens, Peckham rye and burgess park. Camberwell church street is popular for visiting bars, cafés and restaurants.

Although has become quite trendy towards Camberwell, I'd strongly suggest variety of shops around the fire station as too many hairdressers next to each other makes the area look ugly due to the tired look which shadows the beautiful architecture. More galleries and trendy bars would definately benefit the area and attract more young families.

Very good as many buses operate in the area which easily take you to any where in London so there's no need to take the tube or train. This attracts many young people from close areas like Brixton and Camberwell. A tube station would improve the area but as I said, bus service is very good anyway.

Lots of students frequent this area because of the Camberwell University and a particular bar/cafe called The Peckham Pelican has certainly helped to change the areas view from other parts of London. On the main road there are too many hairdressers so this is a problem as they don't look after the premises.

On the high street there is a new little shopping centre including a nice Italian store and other little trendy shops. The bars seem to attract young people as the Camberwell University has become one of the most desirable places to study and the amount of artists has increased the past few years. After living in this area for many years, I can actually be sure my property value has also increased and the security too as no longer the dangerous area people used to think it was. In terms of new amenities, I would say the more the merrier but at the moment it seems to have everything at hand and because the transport is very good hen this attracts people to visit as many buses operate in the area.
