Transport
There are a wide range of different forms of transport in my area. There are buses that go to all different areas and all different parts of London. There are taxis or cabs that are always available aswell for private travel if someone does not wish to go onto public transport especially at the moment with everything that is happening at the moment. Rental bikes and rental electric scooters are also available and easily accessible for any member of the public. There are two train stations that are quite near eachother both going to towards central London or further out of London if travelling in the opposite direction. More forms of transport run until Quite late at night and most buses run twenty four hours a day. Most public transport is kept well cleaned and is checked regularly, although some forms of transport can get quite busy and packed during rush hour times, they are quite regular services available.

As most people who live in London would probably agree the city is never really quiet, even at night. Most nights you can still hear trains or police or ambulance sirens going on through out the night. During the day although there is a big and popular local park and many different local forms of transports the streets are quite quiet and calm. The parking is Decent there are always streets that you can park for free at certain times and other areas you can pay to park your card during the day or over night too. The local residents will often get a parking permit sent to them in which they can park one car for free outside their property. Looking at most of the people I have spoken to I would say the most common would be people Who are renting, many home owners in my area are then renting out their property to others as it is such a great direct link to central London. I would say majority of people living around my area would be classed as families or couples, I don’t see a lot of students renting accommodation around here.

They are many different types of bars and restaurants in my area, with a wide range of choices. Big Bars with outside areas such as balconies, pubs with outdoor areas like pub gardens. Some are also child friendly and provide toys and activities for children to be able To keep children amused, some examples of this would be board games for inside or for outside there are play equipment like children’s play houses, giant connect four, giant Lego or Jenga pieces. There are also quite a few restaurants that have outdoor spaces too and nice gardens that you are able to sit and eat in.

The area is a real mix. There are lots of students and sporty types giving the Common a sense of liveliness and life, but there are also plenty of families and older people. The high street can feel a bit like a strip on a Greek island if there's been a big rugby match or it's a sunny bank holiday, but because most of the bars that cater for younger people are concentrated, the quieter street and pubs of the old town still feel calm. I've always felt safe in the area and spent a few years living here as a single women. There are always enough people around that I've never felt threatened or frightened, even when walking home late at night (though I would always stick to busier roads and never cut across the common).

Clapham Common/Old Town is brilliantly connected with buses, tubes and the overground all there. I work in Victoria and love being able to get the overground to work from Battersea Park - much nicer than the sweaty tube). If I'm feeling energetic I'll walk and it only takes about 45 minutes to cross the river at Chelsea Bridge and cut through Pimlico. It's a short walk, (or a very speedy bus) down to Clapham Junction for day trips out of town to the South. If you do need to take the tube into work, it can get quite busy a peak times at Clapham Common. There's sometimes a queue outside the station but it does move pretty quickly. It can be a bit more pleasant to get a bus or walk to Stockwell, where it's much easier to get on a train as so many people are switching lines there. It's a god-send on the weekend though. Especially with the night tube. From TCR down to Clapham Common only takes about 15 minutes.

My street is Victorian terraced houses. We don't really know our neighbours but they seem friendly whenever we have. I think the road is a mix of renters and owners. There's occasionally a bit of noise from someone having a garden party, but never anything too loud and never anything regularly. All the normal Lambeth council collections, recycling one week and waste the next with food being taken every week.

Clapham Old Town is a great pocket of London to live in. It's a great area for restaurants, cafes and bars for all age groups. Towards the Clapham North end of the High St there are quite a few lively venues that are good for cocktails and dancing...I've lived in the area for a while, (and am possibly too old for some of those places) so now I'm more excited about the brilliant food options nearer to the Common, particularly along the Pavement and South Side. There's the Michelin starred Trinity and The Dairy for real foodies and I love No 32 and Brickwood for long brunches. It's also a calmer vibe and it's so nice being near lots of open space. The Common is the perfect size for a 5K lap if you're a runner and beautiful Battersea Park is on the doorstep with more variety including the boating lake, some stunning ornamental gardens and the zoo. Shopping wise, it's perfect for food and there's a brilliant butcher M.Moen and Sons and several whole food shops, plus the little Waitrose and a big Sainsbury's. For clothes, I'd probably head into town which takes about 15/20 mins on the Northern Line, but there's an Oliver Bonas and a Joy , which are great for gifts.
