It’s a very trendy area. A mix of people and animals alike. Very suitable for pets, children so so as the noise is bad and there are a very social events that happen regularly. I imagine it would be difficult with a new born.

Clapham Common is great as you have Clapham South, Common and Northtube stations with busses regularly in and out. Lavender Hill slightly misses an accessible tube station. You babe Clapham Junction railway station or you would have to walk to Clapham Common or Vauxhall. Both doable but a little further than most normal travel journeys. The bus system is great and there are at least 4 busses that give me access to where I need to get to for my job. Easy to locate and regular so I never need to worry too much with any commute. Sometimes the bus schedule can be a little off and it feels like you either have 3 of the same bus or you are waiting a good 12 mins for 1 bus but overall very happy with what is available.

It’s very noisy. Initially when I moved in, I didn’t expect it to be this noisy. Regular traffic noise as well as party noise and noise from the restaurant and bars. There is a definitely a mix of home owners and renters but I’d say the majority are renters. Age range varies to be honest from students to the retired. I would say, it’s not ideal if you don’t like noise as it took me a while to adjust to hearing noise regularly and now I sleep in earplugs so i can get a decent nights sleep. Great location, great peoples, just a little noisy!

Lots of new businesses opening along Lavender Hill which are amazing. Qualify bakeries, cafes, restaurants and general shops for amenities. The area is like a little community especially in Cravens Mews where I live. The residents and all the business owners look out for each other and it’s very much a community feel. Probably the only thing missing are retail shops but it’s not a huge loss for the area. Clapham Common is always packed but it’s not necessarily the best. I would also expect some retail shops along Clapham high street. It’s popular enough to create great revenue for any business that opens.

The area is suitable for children in the streets, but it can be busy and noisy on the main high road with cars and buses. This area is my dream place and wouldn't leave at any cost. If you can aford to live here, then it would be the best move you would ever make.

london transport is very good. Many tube stations and buses, for local stops or to go straight to inner London. Its easy to catch a black cab and local bus stops are everywhere.
Community
There are many shops and pubs in the area so it can get quite busy especially at peak times and evenings. The local folks are friendly. It's not quite as modern as the inner part of the city, most houses are victorian in design and can be expensive to rent or buy - there is a premium to live in this part of London. The area is very clean and tidy with street bins and during the evening the street lights are quite bright which helps us to feel safe and secure.

Shopping is fantastic in this area whether it be buying a phone, a pair of shoes or your weekly food shop. They're all a stone throw away from each other. Parks and outdoor space is limited, but the common is only a 5 minute walk away where you can relax after a good shop.

Cycle routes are fine, tube can be crowded but is reliable, overground is my preferred choice to navigate this tremendous city.

My street has a mix of younger and older, I think therefore also a mix of renters and remnants, there is no anti social behaviour and traffic noise is OK.

Nice mix of amenities, bars and open spaces offer lots of fun, would love to see more Japanese cuisine to get my gyōza fix.
