It’s a good level of quite with enough amenities/bars that I rarely need to leave. The park was a god send during the lockdown but the closed tube station was an annoyance. Very safe.
Transport
There's the Clapham South tube station on the Northern Line. I find the Northern Line convenient for getting into central London or go south towards Wimbledon. Unfortunately the station closed during the lockdown, which was an annoyance as I needed to walk to the Clapham Common. The buses are good going south, but I’ve found that to get to Battersea or Chelsea I have to first walk the width of the Clapham Common park.

My street is quite mixed. Parking nearby can be a challenge. There’s very little through traffic and I have had no issues with bin collection.
Amenities
It is great for supermarkets with a large Tesco and M&S food hall. Obviously, the Clapham South tube station is convenient (when it is open as it shut during the lockdown). For fast food, there’s a Chicken Cottage, Burger King and independent fish n’chips store. The Chicken Cottage is always busy for take away. There are a few bars with long outdoor areas, that seem popular. There are also useful amenities like a cobblers and nail shops for women. Access to Clapham Common is a convenience as it provides some outdoor space and an alternative route towards Clapham North or Battersea. I like the area. In terms of what it’s missing there aren’t any banks that I can think of nor is there a hardware store (I had to walk to Tooting just to buy an ethernet cable one time).

On first arrival into our neighbourhood, we delivered handwritten cards to our neighbours and they came back with homemade cupcakes. That's what this neighbourhood is for me - everyone has been a dream. I moved from York to here and I think this neighbourhood has been far friendlier than York's! My favourite quality is the access to the Common as I've been benefitting from the abundance of green spaces, especially in lockdown. In terms of the neighbourhood, the housing blocks are a little older, but kept up well, and the restaurants are trendy while keeping their originality and uniqueness. It's so safe and I've never felt threatened or in danger while walking home, due to the abundance of restaurants and the well-lit road.
Transport
Situated incredibly close to bus routes, and almost immediately on the Northern line, with the nearest tube stop (Clapham South) right there and Balham's train station only down the road, it's so accessible you may as well be in Central London. The bike routes are well mapped out and clearly painted as blue and are respected by pedestrians and cars. I've been able to get home with ease in the middle of rush hour, at the current 10pm rush, and at 3am when needed. As it's super accessible, it does come with a main road which does provide somewhat ambient noise (squint and the rush of traffic might sound like the sea) but it's worth it for the accessibility.

In terms of parking, I've purchased a visitors permit for when my parents came and they were able to find a parking spot easily, but can't speak to regular permits. There always seems to be spaces though! Bin collections are frequent and on time, can't complain. The only anti-social behaviour I've noticed is the foxes (but for them, that's social!) as there hasn't been any noticeable noise or disturbances. The noise from the road is the only bother, but hey, we live in London so what's new?

Our area is one of the best I've ever lived in - situated between Clapham Common and Balham, we have an incredible variety and selection of shops, bars, restaurants and large parks. Within a short walking distance are at least 4 gorgeous parks, so ideal for walks with family, friends, or your canine companion (or feline if you're feeling quirky). Balham has an amazing selection of EVERYTHING, with Hildreth Street Market blooming with plant and flower shops and serving fresh fruit and vegetables and a range of cafes and restaurants. If you want to bring a friend out somewhere, bring them to Balham.

Connections are fine, not something I have an issue with, I tend to avoid public transport when I can, but when I do get it it really is not so bad and trains are frequent

At weekends it can be loud and noisey and people feel like its OK to leave their thrash behind and leave the streets a state. the direct neighbours are fine its more the passing drinking crowd.

You can find everything you need, but there are too many lower end take-aways and stores and not enough bespoke boutiques and cocktail bars, its all a bit laddish and beer focused.
