I would say the area has a neutral - positive atmosphere

I like the wide variety of facilities and services that are available is the area. However it could benefit from some more open space. The atmosphere is quite mixed. A wide variety of people come and go everyday so it's difficult to pinpoint a certain type of atmosphere. People are dressed formally early in the day and casually as the day progresses. I would say it suits the environment very well. I wouldn't say the area is very suitable for children or pets. The busy roads pose a danger to dogs and cats and the constant flow of pedestrians could make walking dogs a difficult task. There is a lack of entertainment options for kids such as playgrounds, arcades or just general open space, so it isn't the best environment for them.

Transport

Being in London, a high amount of traffic throughout the day is to be expected however the roads in the area are wide enough to mitigate this problem to an acceptable degree, so the traffic isn't a significant issue in my opinion. There is a wide variety of public transport links in the area. Several bus routes cross this area making for convenient routes of travel with few transfers. The presence of Earl's Court Station enables quick and easy travel via tube. Kensingto is the closest overground station and isn't too difficult to get to either. The trains can be quite packed, especially during rush hour, but it is to be expected when taking into account the location of the stations. The bus routes and frequencies cleanliness are all up to standards (except of course the lack of bendy busses). The trains already come at fairly frequent rate, so I don't believe the crowding problem can be helped.

Community

As mentioned previously, there is a fair amount of traffic and noise pollution, but gived the area, it is not as significant as one may expect. There generally isn't much bad social behaviour as the area is quite busy and most people simply go about their day. The majority of people I encounter aren't from the area, but rather from other parts of London. A good proportion of them are tourists as there are several hotels in the area from which Hyde Park is a short distance away. Most people that live on my street are families that own the houses. In conclusion, I would say the area has a neutral - positive atmosphere. Other than noise there isn't much to complain about.

Amenities

There is a wide range of facilities in thr area surrounding my house. High quality restaurants are in abundance so there is a wide range of options when choosing to eat out. Shops on the other hand aren't as plentiful as the only big chain supermarkets are a sainsbury's local and a tesco superstore. I find that the Tesco superstore is the most popular due to its size and reliable quality, however this is also attributed to the lack of options to choose from. While these are nice to have and sufficient for everyday shopping trips, I feel the area could benefit from the addition of another supermarket chain, preferably ASDA or Lidl. Furthermore, I feel as though the area could benefit from some recreational facilities such as a theatre, or playground for kids.

SW - London’s best place to live

Thus area is fantastic given than you get than you get a residential atmosphere of tranquility, close to all the amenities you want and also very close and accessible given the transportation to other central areas of London.

Transport

Transports are great in the area with bike stations in every corner, abundant buses and different underground lines, including the Picadillly which is also a night tube (on usual basis before Covid). The buses can be the most unreliable part of the transport in the area but I never had major problems. Rush hour can be harsh like everywhere else in London but I find the presence of the District very favorable given it is more spacious than other lines, but cam sometimes he a little slow.

Community

My street is great, aesthetically pleasing and with a sense of neighborhood difficult to find in London. This is given by the presence of an amazing private park for the street which in summer is fabulous and very well taken care of. Even though we are close to a main road, I do not feel any car noise which is also quite unique in London. There’s a variety of residents, from families with kids to students to couples but all very respectful. I believe there is a mix of owners and renters.

Amenities

The amenities in this area are excellent with a range of restaurants from cheaper to more luxury restaurants for any taste and different nationalities. Just the road in front of Earls court comprises of such a diverse range of amenities that give an amazing choice to the residents. Shops can be found mostly in Hugh Street Kensington and are quite absent anywhere else in the area. Food shops are quite abundant whereas open areas are not as common, except for Hyde Park. Bars are not the strong part of the area given it is such a residential zone but are still present.

I really would not recommend people with children move here

There is no community. Neighbours don't know each other. I'm specifically talking about council housing, I don't know if this is also the case for the gated communities in the area. It probably is. There are plenty of markets nearby. North End Road market, Shepherds Bush market. It's not a "trendy" area but that is unimportant. Desperate need of regeneration and upheaval. Unfortunately this will involve moving out people into the outskirts after their council houses are demolished. I really would not recommend people with children move here if they don't want their children to be in danger or harassed by large youth gangs in Marcus Garvey, Lytton Estate, West Kensington estate, Clem Attlee Court, and several others. I grew up here and it wasn't safe for children, and it's gotten much worse. There are plenty of people with pets here. It's not a very safe area, but not complete unsafe either. You 99% won't get attacked in the day, if you're in a public place, and probably won't be attacked at night but you never know. But there is a LOT of drug crime and widespread drug use, and occasionally violent (knife) crime as well.

Transport

A LOT of local transport. Rest assured, you'll find a relevant bus or train line. West Kensington, Kensington Olympia, Earl's Court, West Brompton, Barons Court, Hammersmith, High Street Kensington all have train stations. Plenty of buses too, and two bicycle stands nearby (Olympia st, West Kensington st)

Community

I've heard parking is pretty bad. It's bad throughout a lot of London though. Bin collections are not as frequent as they should be. A large amount of anti-social behaviour and criminals in this area. Traffic noise is not high unless your window is facing North End Road. Even then, North End Road isn't a loud road.

Amenities

There are some small and big shops locally. Salisbury's Olympia, Tesco Olympia, Tesco Earl's Court. A few pubs. No good restaurants. Good parks - excluding Marcus Garvey which is dangerous. Brook Green, Holland Park, Ravenscourt Park are all fairly close. No popular local areas in my area.
