I like that the area has a certain authenticity; it is still very Portugese in Little Portugal, this creates a strong sense of uniqueness and community. It has personality and excitement without being overcrowded or busy, which I really like. It can sometimes make you feel like you have left London which can be a nice escape. The atmosphere is upmarket and I feel it is an up-and-coming area. I rarely feel the need to leave because the has almost everything I need (including excellent Pastel de Nata). I do not see that many families, but I do not see any reason why it would not be suitable for children, there is a children's play park and a dog park 5 minutes walk away in Vauxhall. As a young woman it can feel unsafe walking around London at night, but I have never felt unsafe at night in my area, the local community is trusting.
Transport
Within walking distance of both Stockwell and Vauxhall stations - so good access to Northern and Victoria lines, both of which would normally run night tube, which makes going North/South very easy. They are both reliable, regular and clean lines. There is also a new Northern Line tube station in construction very close by at Nine Elms, opening in 2021 which seems like it will be modern and clean. There are good, reliable and clean buses along S Lambeth Road and Vauxhall bus station is not far away. The only issue is there can sometimes be traffic going north over the river bridges which might slow your journey, but this has never delayed me more than 5-10 minutes. There are national rail service trains from Vauxhall which run between Waterloo and areas south of London. I do not use it but it seems useful. There is no Overground line which is a shame, and there are no train links for travelling to South East/ South West London, so you have to get the bus which can be slow.

The houses are pretty and it is very green with lots of lovely trees and plants. My street is very quiet even though it is just off the main road, there is a little traffic noise but it is not intrusive and I have not seen any anti-social behaviour. I was worried when I moved in because my windows overlook the street and are very thin, but I have had no trouble with noise. There is good parking and bin collections are once a week (although this is early in the morning and can be very noisy, but that is not unusual). It seems that most people on the street are renters: couples and young professionals. There is a well-stocked 24 hour corner shop at the end of the street, a 30 second walk out the door which is incredibly useful in a pinch.

Restaurants/Food As we are in Little Portugal there are lots of Portugese restaurants where lots of people drink and chat on tables outside in the evening -it feels like you are in continental Europe which is nice. There are other good restaurants on S Lambeth Rd, Wilcox Rd and also close by in Vauxhall. Shops There are very good options for local shops: a 24hr corner shop, a tesco, a lidl, a huge Sainsburys a 5 minute walk away at Nine Elms, etc. There are also very good Portugese grocery shops which stock fresh fish, meat and vegetables. Pubs/Bars There are a couple of good English pubs and also a Brazilian pub also on S Lambeth Rd and Wilcox Road. Overall, it is very lively along S Lambeth Road and Wilcox Road, as there is space to dine and drink outside. But there aren't many upmarket bars where you might get a fancy cocktail - the nearest trendy bars I can think of are a 25 minute walk away in Battersea. Sports/Parks There are a couple of very good gyms within walking distance, outdoor tennis courts at Vauxhall park and an indoor climbing centre in the Vauxhall arches. The access to parks could be better - there is only really Vauxhall park which is quite small.

I love the local atmosphere it is mainly very uplifting and energetic give you a real feel of community. It is quite up market but there is still all the amazing self employed stalls and I just love them
Transport
There are two tube stations round the corner that are easy to access with Brixton being wheelchair accessible rush hour can be a bit tricky but thankfully the staff are always kind and extremely helpful it is always as clean as can be I know the staff try there best and that's all anyone can ask for. There is a very wide range of busses thankfully takeing you all over London which is so very helpful.
Community
It is a really good area to live in and kind people sometimes is can be very loud with police sirens but that is understandable I think mainly family's and couples live on our street as well as a wonderful place called evolve housing and support that help young people with housing issue and what not. The social behaviour of some people can be quite nerve racking at times but I have never felt unsafe

There is a high range of shops near me as we are also so close to Brixton we have shop's ranging from Poundland to Sainsbury's and Morley's to TK MAX . All these shops and there workers help so much with in the community another thing I love about our area is the feel of community there are so many self started and self owned restraints and stalls that when you go out you really feel like your helping the community and the people around. I think one of the most loved places in our area is the skate park it's always amazing to walk by and see all these young people gathering and having a laugh such talented people a real feel of community space nice to just site and watch on a lovely day.

Mostly families live around the area, a small local neighbourhood park is across from my house, summer time is lovely as loads of people come out and play music. Sometimes can be a dirty area and not every puts the bins where they should!

A few shops but nothing to be excited about, Tesco express, local chip shop (clay lands) they do amazing chips by the way! Weekly order is made here. Friendly neighbours but recent they have done this oval triangle no one is happy about!!! Lambeth council didn’t ask us how we would have felt about it before putting it into place
