Overview of SW9 9ES, Stockwell Road, Larkhall

I moved to my area from just over a mile way four years ago and I have to say that I really enjoy both the parkland side by side a short walk to the 'Brixton Hub' and so there is nothing that I dislike about my local area. In response to describing the local area there is an upmarket, traditional as well as trendy theme - quite diverse and thereby engaging and affirming for all. Regeneration is now complete within our area with amazing outcomes. The safe, diverse and thereby engaging area means that it is a safe area for children and young families.

Transport

Only a short ten minute walk to the local bus or tube stops which easily connect to Central London with a 15 minute bus ride or five minutes via the tube network. Overground train stations are a 20 minute walk to travel to Kent - Central London or North London are every 5 or 10 minutes wait on the overground train platform. The service of all transport links are particularly reliable for travel both locally as well as throughout London and surrounding area. As with most public transport rush hour means added time to the normal journey time. Night travel is excellent via bus.

Community

Parking is well regulated from on street parking to garage spaces for rental at a reasonable daily, weekly or monthly cost. Lambeth Council as well as estate cleaning services mean that bin collection is of an excellent standard. Anti-social behaviour has been adequately addressed so we now live in our home without the stress and worry of any form of anti-social behaviour. Traffic noise is not an issue given the location three streets back from the main road so a peaceful day and night. A combination of both leaseholders as well as renters composed of wide range of students, elderly young couples and families compose our vibrant and engaging community.

Amenities

A good full range of established supermarkets and added to this is a short walk from home to Brixton with its diverse shopping and incredible markets. Added to shopping there are a large range of different restaurants and bars. Stockwell is knows a Little Portugal and so there are many small to mid range restaurants featuring this cuisine. There are many parks and open spaces which are well looked after by Lambeth Council but also by many local residents enforcing the sense of community. We are blessed by such a selection that it does not feel like local residents or visits are missing any much needed amenities.

It's overall a safe place like any other place you will see people that may make it seem like a strange area but, we rarely have bad things happening in the area it's at times very quiet and more families have moved to houses around the area so it has become more family friendly over time.

Transport

I personally think it's quite in terms of the tube and buses around the area they come every 3 to 5 mins it gives you enough time to get to a place if you are running late. I haven't seen big issues to consider appart from sometimes it can be quite busy so it's difficult to get inside the transport in the mornings, rush hour time however, after 9 it slowly goes back to normality.

Community

I do feel at times it doesn't feel safe at night it seems there's a few more gangs at certain times sometimes ramdom people can approach you and make you uncomfortable because you just don't know what they want and how they will react as most seemed under the influence of alcohol or even drugs.

Amenities

The area I live is very diverse in terms of shops you can find a variety of different types of restaurant and cafe shops which are cosy and comfortable to just have a friendly catch up with a freind. The area is quite vibrant regardless of the time of day people come from other places to try the bars and clubs near places such at Brixton Clapham ect. It's a placed filled with hidden suprises you just never know what you will find or even try! I do think there could be more things for young people to do in the future as is evident more young people like this area.
