I am grateful I live in this neighbourhood. It is safe, quiet, has some very good local shops, a lot of super markets to choose from, Ravenscourt Park around the corner, some very nice festivals held all year round, and we even have a library very close to us. I also like it because it feels suburban although it is zone 2. Our road especially feels homey and cozy, as the neighbours have been there for some time so they know each other and help with whatever they can. The only bad thing that I noticed in the area is a serial stubbing that proved to be a war between gangs a few roads to the north.

Thank god that is the best part as Askew Road is well connected to both Shepherd's Bush Market station Hammersmith and Circle lines), Shepherd's Bush station(Central Line) and Hammersmith station(Piccadilly and District lines). Furthermore, because Shepherd's Bush is very close to central London, there are frequent buses that can take you both to central and western London conveniently and quite fast(Approximately half an hour to Piccadilly Circus). So in a few words I would say that Shepherd's Bush, is one of the most well connected regions I have seen in London.

I really consider myself lucky of the street I live in. The residents are mainly families that own the houses, living a peaceful and quiet life. As a result-apart from some teens that go crazy- there is no disturbance or anti social behaviour spotted at any time. Not many cars passing by or drunk people shouting in the middle of the night. In order to describe it I will just tell you that now that it is hot, I sleep with open windows and the only thing I can hear is birds!! As for the parking, I don't have a car myself but one of my housemates has, and he is finding parking near our house to be quite an easy job. Most of the times he finds parking in front of the house!

When it comes to shops and restaurants, living in Shepherd's Bush has a big variety covered. I live near Askew Road, where one can find good food from around the world (except for Greek food unfortunately), local shops with quality goods and 3 pubs. If you are looking for green open spaces to relax, Ravenscourt Park is ideal for its' big size and nice diversity. Once can find courts, a pond, a secret garden and even a shallow swimming pool for kids (sort of a built in pond). Furthermore, the most famous site in Shepherd's Bush is of course Westfield with its' massive stores and and restaurants! What we really miss with my friends, is a pub or just a space with some games, board games and good food! A place where people with these interests can socialize and meet new people. And another thing that would be good, would be some sort of spa or a swimming pool!

It’s residential enough that you don’t feel like you’re in zone 2 but close enough to transport to get you into central London within 15 minutes. It’s the perfect combination especially if you’re commuting into the city for your job every weekday. Westfield is the star attraction but just a bus ride away is beautiful Chiswick High Road with trendy shops, bars and restaurants. Can’t go wrong!

Being zone 2 in London you have buses going in every direction aswell as tube stations. Close by you have Stamford Brook (distinct line), Goldhawk Road (Hammersmith and City and Circle line) aswell as Shepherds Bush and White City (Central Line). It is particularly busy around rush hour (especially at Shepherd’s Bush) between 8-9 in the morning.

It’s a beautiful area with gorgeous houses so lovely to walk around. I get the impression that there is a mix of owners and renters in the area. You have the odd crime happen (where doesn’t that happen in London?!) but I don’t feel unsafe walking around the area. I never have a problem with bin collection. You have bins for your black rubbish and then Hammersmith and Fulham council provide you with recycling bags for your recycling. It’s an unspoken rule that you don’t put your recycling out until the night before collection. It keeps the area looking tidy.

There are some great local coffee shops - Lavelli Bakery being one on Askew Road. Great coffee and baked goods. A bus ride away you have Westfield which has an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars. Westfield is extremely popular as it has everything under one roof including a gym, cinema, Waitrose as well as high end and high street stores. Not far away you also have Chiswick High Road which again has great restaurants and bars but particularly independent special shops that Westfield doesn’t!
