Overview of W14 9PS, Turneville Road, West Kensington
From a total of 71 reviews, W14 9PS scores 4.13 out of 5 - which is one of the average rated places to live in this area. W14 9PS is in London, in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Greater London. 21 reviewers rated W14 9PS 5 stars. Observations from these residents include ‘SW - London’s best place to live’. Unfortunately, others were less favourable, with one reviewer remarking ‘I really would not recommend people with children move here’.the north end road doesn’t look appealing at all but it’s such a great place to live!
The area’s parks could do with a bit of a make over - they aren’t very appealing or welcoming. I think West Kensington could do with a jazz so it looks a bit more nicer and inviting - the north end road doesn’t look appealing at all but it’s such a great place to live!
Transport
This area is fantastic for public transport which is one of the main reasons we still live in W14! We have access to both Barons Court and West Kensington Stations for the Piccadilly line (direct to Heathrow Airport and Kings Cross St Pancreas) and District and Circle lines. The bus service is really great, you can get to most places like Richmond and easily to central London.
Community
We don’t own a car so can’t comment about the parking but there seems to be a decent amount. Bin collections is twice a week and the service is really great as our street is so much nicer once all the rubbish is picked up and the street is swept by the council. I think that our street is a mix of home owners and renters - we unfortunately live next door to studio lets but haven’t found much issues with the temporary tenants. I think the area mostly consists of young professionals due to the cost of the rent in this area - and again, it’s great for an easy commute and accessibility of local community facilities (Hyde Park is approx. 30min walk). Our building has home owners, except basement, where there is a long term tenant.
Amenities
W14 has a good range of local small restaurants which have lovely food and so much more enjoyable than visiting a large chain like Casa Bardotti for wood fire pizza! The area also still has some lovely local around the corner pubs like Curtains Up and The Colton Arms. There is great places to grab a coffee - from well-known Costa to small business Chapter Coffee (who roast their own beans). HG Walters is such a hit on their own with their supplying locals and fancy restaurants with their quality meats. There are small supermarkets from bigger chains and independent owners to get the bits you need, and a little longer trek to reach a 24hr Tesco.
SW - London’s best place to live
Thus area is fantastic given than you get than you get a residential atmosphere of tranquility, close to all the amenities you want and also very close and accessible given the transportation to other central areas of London.
Transport
Transports are great in the area with bike stations in every corner, abundant buses and different underground lines, including the Picadillly which is also a night tube (on usual basis before Covid). The buses can be the most unreliable part of the transport in the area but I never had major problems. Rush hour can be harsh like everywhere else in London but I find the presence of the District very favorable given it is more spacious than other lines, but cam sometimes he a little slow.
Community
My street is great, aesthetically pleasing and with a sense of neighborhood difficult to find in London. This is given by the presence of an amazing private park for the street which in summer is fabulous and very well taken care of. Even though we are close to a main road, I do not feel any car noise which is also quite unique in London. There’s a variety of residents, from families with kids to students to couples but all very respectful. I believe there is a mix of owners and renters.
Amenities
The amenities in this area are excellent with a range of restaurants from cheaper to more luxury restaurants for any taste and different nationalities. Just the road in front of Earls court comprises of such a diverse range of amenities that give an amazing choice to the residents. Shops can be found mostly in Hugh Street Kensington and are quite absent anywhere else in the area. Food shops are quite abundant whereas open areas are not as common, except for Hyde Park. Bars are not the strong part of the area given it is such a residential zone but are still present.
I really would not recommend people with children move here
There is no community. Neighbours don't know each other. I'm specifically talking about council housing, I don't know if this is also the case for the gated communities in the area. It probably is. There are plenty of markets nearby. North End Road market, Shepherds Bush market. It's not a "trendy" area but that is unimportant. Desperate need of regeneration and upheaval. Unfortunately this will involve moving out people into the outskirts after their council houses are demolished. I really would not recommend people with children move here if they don't want their children to be in danger or harassed by large youth gangs in Marcus Garvey, Lytton Estate, West Kensington estate, Clem Attlee Court, and several others. I grew up here and it wasn't safe for children, and it's gotten much worse. There are plenty of people with pets here. It's not a very safe area, but not complete unsafe either. You 99% won't get attacked in the day, if you're in a public place, and probably won't be attacked at night but you never know. But there is a LOT of drug crime and widespread drug use, and occasionally violent (knife) crime as well.
Transport
A LOT of local transport. Rest assured, you'll find a relevant bus or train line. West Kensington, Kensington Olympia, Earl's Court, West Brompton, Barons Court, Hammersmith, High Street Kensington all have train stations. Plenty of buses too, and two bicycle stands nearby (Olympia st, West Kensington st)

I've heard parking is pretty bad. It's bad throughout a lot of London though. Bin collections are not as frequent as they should be. A large amount of anti-social behaviour and criminals in this area. Traffic noise is not high unless your window is facing North End Road. Even then, North End Road isn't a loud road.
Amenities
There are some small and big shops locally. Salisbury's Olympia, Tesco Olympia, Tesco Earl's Court. A few pubs. No good restaurants. Good parks - excluding Marcus Garvey which is dangerous. Brook Green, Holland Park, Ravenscourt Park are all fairly close. No popular local areas in my area.
Very residential, good for families with children and pe
