Overview of W3 6SX, Cumberland Park, Acton

Nothing to dislike. It is a wonderful up and coming area with great people and vibes!

Transport

Acton has the most number of stations in London. We have over ground and underground links all of which mean you can get almost anywhere in London, really easily. With the new cross rail due to open within a few years, we are so lucky that central London will be closer than every. Cycle routes have improved over the past few years and should continue to do so. There is a great cycle path down the side of the A40 which speeds up journeys going west. Buses run well here too. There is a great service from Acton to Hammersmith which is sadly due to change at some point soon. Often car traffic can be bad on Churchfield road especially due to the level crossing. However, if you time it right you can avoid the crossing being down.

Community

My street is quietly pleasant. Luckily it is not a cut through meaning traffic flow is low. The residents are mainly elderly couples or families with a mix of teenage children and young children. We have great street parties and know all the neighbours both on our street and on the ones parallel. Noise from neighbours is rare. Gardens are close together so in the summer you might hear more noise. However, it is never unpleasant. Parking is alway easy along our street and parallel ones. And visitors can park at the end of the street using the app Pay By Phone, very easily. Bins are collected weekly - but alternating between recycling and refuse. They are collected on time each week. No complaints there!

Amenities

We have lovely privately owned shops and restaurants, pubs and cafes in our area. The very popular Churchfield Road is home to most of these. There is a wonderful pancake cafe called Mr Bake Me. Run by a greek chap called Athan. This is popular with the children and adults alike. Then we have a great bakery called Lavellis- perfect for coffee and cake or a sandwich or freshly baked bread. Heart and Soul is a wonderful flower shop where you get a great bunch of flowers for really reasonable prices. For a posher dinner date we have Fed and Watered which is a very upmarket and modern British family run restaurant with gourmet style food and a Master Chef finalist chef in charge. I can walk to 2 lovely large green open spaces from my home both with great children's play facilities.

I’m not going to lie, I think overall the area is decreasing in the homey atmosphere it needs. With more blocks being built it’s like Manhattan 2.0 and it’s just not Acton.

Transport

TFL in Acton, especially on Horn Lane was superb until they discontinued the 266 route to Hammersmith. This was especially frustrating since it meant catching two buses instead of that. However, the train service is amazing, all the stations are relatively close to everywhere.

Community

I have to say I do like my road, it’s not all lived by the owners but rented to students so there are frequent changeovers. It doesn’t get loud during the night which is perfect but bin collections do sometimes get missed unfortunately.

Amenities

I’d say there’s a good range of amenities in the area, maybe not so W3 in particular but definitely combing W3, W4 and W5. There’s quite a lot of green areas and a lot of corner shops. I would possibly add a few more cafes, even independent coffee shops to make it more homey.
