I like the “village feeling” and the fact that most people are very respectful and polite, you can have a chat with really anyone on the street. The neighbourhood is very friendly, it’s relatively safe, considering it’s in London, with lots of Europeans and different cultures. It is suitable for kids and I heard the schools and nurseries are really good too. I miss however a good street market, I think if we had one, it would bring the community even closer.
Transport
Buses are always available and run most of the time very smoothly. There have been rare occasions when the tube was closed but bus replacements were very efficient. I don’t have a car but have no issues moving around, same for my neighbour who is almost 80 and enjoys walking to shops as well as taking the bus, the area is very connected, even during rush hours. There has recently been a change of buses and a lot of people in the community were worried about the consequences but it turns out to work fine. I have no complaint about the transport system in my area, except the fact that there isn’t enough space for the bikes, who end up quite often on the pavement, which means a bit more dangerous for pedestrians. There are also a lot of complaints about rented bikes being left on pavements because people don’t want to pay or bring them back. Bus stops could be cleaner as well but this is probably because I am used to the very clean tubes and tube stations.

On my street, there are mainly families who own their properties and young professionals who rent out, they are very polite and generally educated ao not too many issues. Unfortunately there are council flats on the other side of the street and in the recent years, there have been an increase in break-ins, car damaged, parcels stolen. One of my neighbours has very nicely arranged a little garden outside his flat with lots of flower pots, a bench, he made a very big effort so the street looks prettier...until some people from these council flats decided to trash it. It’s a real shame and as a result, the police comes around more often. I still feel safe though and have no problem walking home late. Like on most streets, cars are driving way too fast, despite the speed bumps that the council has built on the road. The bin collection however is outstanding, they really are doing an amazing job.

The local shops are made of local people, very friendly ans welcoming who get to know you and recognise you. Coming from France, I really missed that village spirit where people knew each other and sais hi to each other! By buying from local shops, you really get the feeling of contributing to the community and they know how important customer service is so you always feel welcome. I think the W3 area has a lot of local necessary shops such as pharmacies and bakeries, but also less essential like flowerist which offers a very wide range. The restaurants and kebab, pizzas, Tai places are always popular, we could maybe do with a few more pubs that have outside spaces. Most places are dog friendly so it makes it very easy to walk around without worrying about your pet. A few more bakeries would also be great but that’s probably because I’m French and miss it a lot!

Chiswick is a very stylish and trendy place to live and we will never move from here. It has everything you need for everyone, couple, families, children, pets etc. We most like the availability of everything, i.e. there is a vet, garden centre and more 5 mins walk away, it's all so easy.
Transport
There is a wide range of transport in Chiswick. There are at least 3 tube stops within the area plus the overground train which is very convenient. The tube and trains are very reliable and kept in good condition. There are a couple of different bikes you can hire and then dock anywhere, this can cause a problem sometimes as they are just left on the street but it doesn't seem to be too bad. There are a range of buses which are also well kept. They provide excellent access into the centre of London, for example the 94 bus goes straight from my house in Chiswick to Oxford Street. We are lucky to have such a range of transport in this area.

My street is very well located to walking to the High Road in Chiswick, just 6 minutes. There are a range of people who liver here, some who have been here for years and some younger families. They are mostly houses but there are some flats with renters. The parking is very good and there are always spaces, the nice wide roads also help. Traffic noise can be a little loud at times but it is generally fine, the bin collections are always on time. There are never any problems with anti social behaviour but I do feel at times the council could keep the streets a little better, i.e. picking up the leaves more quickly are looking after the trees and the weeds. The area is very pretty as there is a tradition to have matching white gates and fences in Bedford Park which looks very attractive.

Chiswick High Road has a fantastic range of shops and restaurants. There are both independent and chain shops and a good variety of food, coffee and home shops. There is also an outstanding garden centre next to Turnham Green Station and a lovely homewares shop on South Parade. There are no amenities which are missing, it has it all! Along the river is also a lovely place for pubs and restaurants and to enjoy the view. There is a very pretty street off the High road called Devonshire road which has a lot of independent shops and coffee shops you can go to. Chiswick House is also close and it is an amazing open space to enjoy for a walk or a picnic. There are also green spaces within Chiswick to walk or exercise your dog.

I love the privacy and quietness but dislike the lack of community spirit. The atmosphere is bubbly . It is suitable for all including OAP's who can access local cafes, parks, leisure centres, bars etc.

The area is very well served by local transport with good transport links. The bus service for some of the buses needs to be more reliable and regular particularly the E3 route. the The buses should be better scheduled so avoid 3 buses at the same time or within close proximity leaving customers to wait for very long for the next bus.

Parking is terrible on my street and the disable parking bays are creating an even bigger problem as the disable bays take up 2 parking bays space which is unnecessary. The bin collectors are very inconsiderate and not take the extra bag if placed along side the bin due to not having space in the bin. This has created a problem with the foxes which are now strolling down the streets as they are aware of where there next meal is coming from. It feels very restrictive in your home when you are have neighbours knocking your door and reporting you to the local authority for having small family gatherings or talking in your home during normal hours. We have a mixture of home owners, renters, couple and families residing on my street.

My local area have a wide variety of high end shops including boutiques and restaurants, friendly bars with live music and lovely well maintained parks for picnics. You are not limited to the type of cuisine and dining options. The area has a range of family freindly restaurants and leisure places. The high road is particularly popular with a bustily night life both weekdays and weekends. It is a great for socialising and meeting new people. The area could do more high street clothing shops and larger Waitrose and Savers shop.
