Overview of W4 5PY, Power Road, Chiswick

I think Chiswick is safe for a city and people are very mindful about needs of children, families, older people and the like. There are good open spaces at the river, Chiswick House, Turnham Green and Acton Green and everyone uses them well and shares with each other well- you don't get antisocial behaviour and the parks are kept clean. I think Chiswick is quite chic but also does have a lot of interesting places if you like design for example the old cinema has wonderful vintage furniture and is a real treasure trove.

Transport

Chiswick is well served by public transport being on 3/4 underground lines (Chiswick Park, Turnham Green, Stamford Brook and Ravenscout Park- if the District line isn't working this is a problem but you can take a bus to Shepherd's Bush (the 94) or several to Hammersmith. There is also a national rail station which is a bit of a walk from the High Road but the bus is quick- that is good for connecting to Putney, Richmond, Barnes and Waterloo. Finally in the Chiswick Park area of Chiswick there is South Acton overground which is a great link up to North London- you can be at Hampstead Heath in twenty minutes!

Community

Chiswick is a friendly, neighbourly area in my experience. Parking is available, if you are a resident parking you will find a space, you may need to park on another road at a very busy time like Sunday night but otherwise parking is good and people are helpful to each other. Rubbish collections are bi-weekly but I think that is an across London issue- it can get a bit tricky at very busy times when everyone is home like Christmas or the height of Summer but the tip is nearby and Sainsbury's has great recycling if your bin gets too full. My street is mostly owners and some renters I think and everyone is nice and helpful.

Amenities

Chiswick has a great selection of high street names and independent shops. Chiswick High Road itself has everything you need with a large supermarket (rare for a London high street) and many well known restaurants, fashion brands (Mint Velvet, Jigsaw) and lifestyle and furniture brands (sofa workshop, Oliver Bonas). There are also a wide range of small and medium independent and boutique shops. Devonshire Road has fashion, jewellery, art and home type shops whilst Turnham Green terrace has a butcher, fishmonger, wellness shops, two grocers and many delis (and also a beautiful toy shop and stationary shop). Chiswick is also well served for book shopping with several independents and a large, friendly Waterstones.

I like most of everything,the atmosphere is quiet good ,lots of new buildings,the are has place for children’s and teens and pets ,I feel safe ..

Transport

I don have any issues about transport,I’ve noticed there are more buses on street ,less people too.. For me is great.

Community

Parking space is poor,but I don’t drive. Bin collectors in day.. The only noise sometimes is happening on Mondays ,gardening Which I really hates

Shops are ok ,at moment I missed the market on Fridays and Saturdays . Missing the pubs too,restaurant are close at moment ..
