become a wasteland of discount stores and questionable hygiene standards grocers.

Depressing selection of shops. Ealing used to offer enough variety to not have to warrant a trip into London centre unless you had very particular tastes. Now, it's become a wasteland of discount stores and questionable hygiene standards grocers. There's still parts of the borough where a sense of community exists, but it's dwindling.

Transport

Good transport links to Paddington and Heathrow. Within a small area, Ealing is covered by 4 tube lines and Network Rail. Quite well-served by buses with a NightBus service that connects it to central London. Parking spaces are becoming increasingly difficult to find and buses are often at maximum capacity.

Community

Ealing used to be an area where you'd buy your property, raise your family and spend time happily. Renting has become the prominent way of living in the area as more and more charming houses become converted into bed-sits or individual apartments. With the change, a decline in social values has been bestowed upon the area. A growing number of migrant workers living in converted garages, quite evident by the empty bottles on the streets at the end of a weekend. The area feels depressed and it's a shame considering all the hope and vibrancy the area showed up until the late 1990's. The shopping centre no longer feels like the special place it used to be, poverty is creeping in to an area that was once affluent. Crime has gone up, car thefts, violence on the streets has increased although not to the levels of other London suburbs.

Amenities

Quality of shops has been waning over the last decade. The area used to cater towards the young to middle-aged middle-class sector but it's changed to become mainly average eateries and coffee shops. Ealing has quite a few pubs, some quite welcoming, but after 11pm you're stuck for entertainment. The clubs have seemingly closed down and in general the area is on the decline. For the rents the area commands, the high street offerings do not align to the target audience. Long debated, Ealing's cinema has been torn down and it seems the facade has been kept as an interest point for another new development of overpriced apartments. Ealing is well served by public transport and allows you easy access to London & Heathrow as long as a connection to travelling along the M4 corridor. There are plenty of parks in the area and is a nice place to bring up the family if you are able to afford to purchase a house nearby. Ealing's wholesomeness has been erased. You used to be able to drive in, have a coffee, purchase what you needed and feel good about the world. Now it's just a hub of apartment buildings in progress and very little in the way of retailers to service them.

Having lived in a few places in London, this is by far the best that I've lived in so far where a sense of security is concerned,

I think that my local area is great - a place really suitable for pets, families and children. It's very residential. Having lived in a few places in London, this is by far the best that I've lived in so far where a sense of security is concerned, and the area offers so much potential in the way of entertaining guests at nearby bars and restaurants, allowing yourself the chance to budget by shopping cheaper at budget supermarkets, and leisure and health facilities in the form of nearby gyms and green spaces.

Transport

West Acton and Ealing Common tube stations are both approx a 10/15 minute walk away from my location. Because of this, it makes travelling on the district/picadilly and central line super convenient. There are also a good amount of buses from what I can see, though I tend to use the tube more. West Acton tube station has a toilet in (Which is fantastic for those post-night out tubes!). These tubes do not have lift facilities, so access may be harder for some people. I think the transport choices here are fantastic. If you go to Ealing Broadway (20ish minute walk), you can also catch some trains to the rest of the UK!

Community

I live on a very quiet street and I honestly couldn't fault it at all. From what I've seen seeing neighbours, there are a lot of families and some couples, but no disruption. As it's a shared area, the recycling bin often becomes too full, but other than that we've never had any problems with the disposal of general waste. Unfortuntately, we do live RIGHT next to two tube/train lines, but this isn't as annoying as you'd think. Guests who are new to the area may find it to disrupt their sleep, but having lived here for a while now (and with double glazing on the windows..!) I sleep straight through it. It's a bit annoying when you're on a zoom call with work however and a train passes by!

Amenities

I'm very fortunate to live between Ealing and Acton. Because of this, it's great having the two different areas to go to - Ealing is fantastic and has a lot more high street Chains (JD Sports, a large Boots, Primark, Morrisons, M&S) and also has a great range of restaurants and bars available, and to me, seems like the main shopping district of the area. Acton, while smaller, has its own benefits of having a Morrisons, Superdrug, Iceland, Wilkinsons and a Lidls, allowing people nearby the opportunity to purchase from more affordable stores. There are also some restaurants in Acton, but it seems to be mostly takeaways. I'd say Ealing would be a 'fancier' place to go to than Acton, but I much prefer going in to Acton due to the value of the shops there! I don't feel like much is missing from the area.

People who live here are the wealthy of Ealing- not representative of Ealing

Houses are big and have driveways. People who live here are the wealthy of Ealing- not representative of Ealing borough and not very diverse

Transport

Ealing Broadway station a 15 minute walk away. Also many bus routes going from Ealing to Uxbridge, Shepherds bush, Acton, Greenford. There are night buses going to Ealing from central London.

Community

good aspects- many Japanese live in this area and they are tidy, care for the properties and do not throw waste in the road. They are disciplined and do not have noisy parties. bad aspects- street cleaning has been virtually non existent during covid crisis. It is difficult for visitors to park- all street parking is by meter or residence vouchers.

Amenities

Our street is a 10 minute walk from Ealing broadway with its many shops and amenities. Local primary schools are very good and there are also several nurseries in the area- both private and state.

The area is quite upmarket, very leafy and green and peaceful and there is a good sense of community especially round Autumn and Christmas.
