There are very nice houses, the schools have good reputation, and there are a lot of places to hang out with your family.
I think W8 is a very nice place. There are very nice houses, the schools have good reputation, and there are a lot of places to hang out with your family. I'm not so sure if i would say affordable, since it is a place where more financially stable are meant to live in, so for people that do not have a career, it is a little tough to keep up with rent. There are a lot of restaurants! Families can go out and enjoy an evening together. They can go to the awesome public library, the beautiful parks, or even attend the seasonal local flea markets. There is a down side to this area. Because rich and poor people live here, there is a separation between the two classes.
High Street Kensington station is a beautiful tube with several small eateries for the travelers. It's in good location and it's easy to reach central London and very fast, of course the inside architecture it's beautifully designed, Driving takes about 25-30 minutes to Piccadilly Circus if you're lucky and avoid rush hour, but it is an ideal environment to be close to the city and have a quiet residence.
I have lived in Kensington for 2 years and 5 months now and have had no problems so far. I am apartment living and will say that you get what you pay for. Some of the houses are in a great need for updates considering what they are asking for rent. It is very family friendly and you constantly see families walking around and going to parks or local shops.
Kensington is a very fun place. The entire community is one as a whole and we all support our local shops and restaurants in many ways. The commercial centre, Kensington High Street, stands out in the W8 district. You don't have to go far if you want to shop. We have many public parks where many events are hosted and people get to play. Overall the place is amazing and jolly.
It feels like a small town where everyone knows each other
Overall this is a great community to raise a child. It feels like a small town where everyone knows each other. There is a countable number of minorities in the area and everyone is up in everyone else's business. It is so safe that people can walk alone at all times and not have to be worried. Very active community. However, the bid drawback are the tourists. They, too, are everywhere. I hate tourists,so it definitely gets to me. I try to hang around outside towards the evening, when most tourists and pop-up salesmen are gone, and it's emptier, quieter, and an overall much nicer area. At the end of the day though, these are very minor things in the scheme of it all. It's really a wonderful area, and I think I'd still live here if I could do it all over again - it's just so accessible and so full of life and rich with culture - it is very, very London, in the best way possible.
I use the circle line to Farringdon and it is normally a pleasant journey and very fast. The rly rains are not noisy and they arrive every 1-6 mins. I get that the underground is efficient and nice (or at least way nicer than in many other countries) but it’s still not good enough to be that expensive. Each journey is £2.40 if you don’t have a daily pass or something like that, so avoid it if you can; the bus is cheaper and still nice.
I live right very close to Hyde Park. It's huge and beautiful. I love the vibe and atmosphere of my street. I wish housing was more reasonable in size and pricing. My other complaint is that, not unlike many areas of large cities, it is often dirtier than I think it deserves because of the nightlife scene. On the upside, my street has many bus stops and transportation is very easy which is a plus.
It is very chill, relaxing, and convenient. It's also very safe. You can find restaurants, diners, supermarkets, and anything that you need basically here. But it's not that ideal for shopping or entertainment, of course, because of the high prices. There is a lot of turn over in terms of restaurants and shops due to rising rent levels but overall the stores are of high quality.
The high Street is in need of regeneration as it has suffered with Westfield opening up a couple of years ago.
I dislike the fact that there is no cinema. There are pets s and children. It is quite safe although there was a mugging. The high Street is in need of regeneration as it has suffered with Westfield opening up a couple of years ago.
The transport links are good. Several bus routes regularly stop by. There is a good tube service but the tube station does NOT have a lift or escalator. It can get very busy especially during rush hour.
The people who live on my street are all owners and some are serviced apartments. A lot of families live on my street. There is a tiny , pocket handkerchief sized garden. It is a relatively quiet area very near to good transport links and local amenities.
There is a park which is very popular called Holland Park. That has a playground. There is no cinema but the shops are quite good although a lot of them have shut down. We like any other area have been affected by COVID -19 so social distancing is in place. There are gyms but no high class restaurants just your average McDonalds.
I love the mix of people and restaurants,

The area is generally feeling safe, at least compared to other central-ish locations in London.
