The area is really trendy and lively, but those who have lived here for many years (I've lived here for close to two decades) have seen the area change and seen local businesses being chased out by drastic rent increases. It is heartbreaking and disappointing.
Transport
Transport is very easy in the local area. There are stations and bus stops everywhere so accessing the rest of London is very convenient, even at night. However, being so central means that there will be a lot of traffic during rush hour and sometimes it can be faster to walk, even if it's a long journey. Cycling is always faster because you can use the roads and outpace the cars because there are a lot of traffic lights. However, unless you have your own bike, getting a Santander bike may be difficult at busy times as well.

Many families live on my street as I live in a block of flats. If you can register for a parking space with the council, it is usually fine, though sometimes you might have to park a little further than you'd like (5/10minute walk). As it is central London, there is a lot of anti-social behaviour at night and it can get very loud, even up until early hours of the morning. You have to get used to it. There are also constant streams of tourists and visitors to the centre of London which means it can be really difficult to even leave your home sometimes. What makes up for it is that the location is great.

Living in central London is brilliant in that anything you need is right around the corner. There are many great restaurants and shops, both big names and local businesses. It can sometimes be a tourist trap for those who don't know where to look when eating out, but once you get to know the place, you can find a lot of hidden gems. However, there has been a rise in gentrification over the past decade and well-loved local businesses have had to close, to be replaced by larger shops who can afford the rent. In that sense, there has been a loss of a community feel in the area. In terms of amenities, there are so many options that you'll find what you need within a mile, however what could be improved is the number of public toilets, so that on Saturday mornings, you don't walk out onto the streets to unpleasant smells.

As previously mentioned, the area is perfect for my children who can play in the local parks with their sports teams. What I like the most is the sense of community and the diversity of the area because it exposes my kids to different cultures and ways of life which they can learn from and take forward into their lives. I would say on the whole the area is trendy, with quirky shops and places to eat making it an enjoyable area to live in.
Transport
The transport services are very convenient and if the tube is not working there is always a bus route available. As I work locally, I am always checking my mobile apps to see the availability of transport and the apps are always right so I think because of this the convenience and availability of transport links are very reliable. The only issue are the crowds from 6-8 in the morning as it is very claustrophobic getting on transport sometimes, but I guess there is not a lot that can be done about this.

I own a car and have to pay for a permit which is expensive as there is hardly any free parking. Even with a permit it can be difficult to find a space nearby my house. Bin collections are fine, the binmen are prompt and do their job efficiently. There is very little anti-social behaviour however there is a lot of traffic noise, especially in the mornings. My street has a mixture of renters and owners and we all get on okay with each other.

The local shops in my area help me support my family because they provide local and international groceries which help me cook delicious meals for my family. The open spaces are perfect for my children as there are many local parks and sports teams/clubs which my children participate in. My favorite bars are the Wigmore and Market Place Bar because they have good vibe and very friendly staff who are always keen to help and have a good conversation
