The area is really trendy and lively, but those who have lived here for many years (I've lived here for close to two decades) have seen the area change and seen local businesses being chased out by drastic rent increases. It is heartbreaking and disappointing.
Transport
Transport is very easy in the local area. There are stations and bus stops everywhere so accessing the rest of London is very convenient, even at night. However, being so central means that there will be a lot of traffic during rush hour and sometimes it can be faster to walk, even if it's a long journey. Cycling is always faster because you can use the roads and outpace the cars because there are a lot of traffic lights. However, unless you have your own bike, getting a Santander bike may be difficult at busy times as well.

Many families live on my street as I live in a block of flats. If you can register for a parking space with the council, it is usually fine, though sometimes you might have to park a little further than you'd like (5/10minute walk). As it is central London, there is a lot of anti-social behaviour at night and it can get very loud, even up until early hours of the morning. You have to get used to it. There are also constant streams of tourists and visitors to the centre of London which means it can be really difficult to even leave your home sometimes. What makes up for it is that the location is great.

Living in central London is brilliant in that anything you need is right around the corner. There are many great restaurants and shops, both big names and local businesses. It can sometimes be a tourist trap for those who don't know where to look when eating out, but once you get to know the place, you can find a lot of hidden gems. However, there has been a rise in gentrification over the past decade and well-loved local businesses have had to close, to be replaced by larger shops who can afford the rent. In that sense, there has been a loss of a community feel in the area. In terms of amenities, there are so many options that you'll find what you need within a mile, however what could be improved is the number of public toilets, so that on Saturday mornings, you don't walk out onto the streets to unpleasant smells.

Bin collection every weekend, not noisy since the pub has gone. Mostly young couples and young families live here. Lots of tourists renting air bnbs. Mostly leaseholders and private renters. Anti social behaviour from Thursday to Saturday night from club/pub goers. The drunks can be heard singing at 2am.

A wide variety of shops, boutiques, high street brands, coffee shops, restaurant and more. It's the bustling heart of the city, with great transport links. Lacks parking spaces but can love without a car.

Parking availability is very low. Noisy due to a bus that terminates right outside the building. Otherwise generally quiet - especially on weekends as this is mostly business area. Only other major foot traffic is people heading to Oxford Street to shop.

I would give a score of 4. Pretty much everything is available nearby and it is the busiest area for shopping in London. Could perhaps be improved with a local market / fresh food market
