The underrated aspect of E5

I do like Chatsworth Market very much and I feel like more areas in Hackney should have thee markets, it gives a sense of communicate and you see the market full of families, kids, dogs, cats, different demographics and races - essentially full of diversity.

Transport

Thankfully E5 is located to a nearby distance form Stratford and the Olympic park, meaning that travel access is significant. There are many train stations nearby, Homerton, Hackney Downs and Hackney Central which in my own experience has allowed me to easily travel from north to east to south to west London, I’ve personally never had any complications with travel. However, I will truthfully admit that there always seems to be a travel blockage when travelling my car, this is due to road work development or crime scenes that often that place in the area which leads to disruption. Honestly, I’m not sure how to overcome the constant road work issues, perhaps the government can ensure that work given is substantial and effective to lead to less problems in the future and with the crime issues, that is the case of raising awareness and encouraging individuals to not turn to crime.

Community

I can say that E5 is probably a lot quieter than most places in Hackney, but that is not to say crime is a massive issue in the area, therefore I often hear police sirens daily. In terms of the people I am around, it is a close nit environments with many primary schools and children surrounded, along with the parks and outdoor facilities offered, E5, is a friendly space to be around. I often find big families and the elderly living on my street.

Amenities

Post Olympic Games E5 has been in the rise of gentrification, where parts of the area have been develop and new restaurant and bar spaces have been created. There is also a massive Nike outlet, where they hold numerous networking events for young children who are at a disadvantage and offer them insight events to get people from this socio-economic group into industries. We are fortunate to have Hackney Spaces, Milfields Park, and Hackney surrounding the area where there are opportunities to play outdoor sports or any other leisure activities. However, I will admit I do not see what is done in the space, I do not believe the space is ultilised and offered to the best that it can be, perhaps more youth centres or tuition/study spaces can be opened up. Or perhaps an interactive hub, where young people and adults are able to learn and flourish more in their skills/interests, such as cooking, creative industries, legal sectors etc. A lot can be done with the space that we have but it seems as the area not the demographic is a priority to government officials.

The most important thing is, FRIENDLY neighbourhood!

This best thing for me is the friendly welcoming neighbourhood. Speaking for myself; I’ve moved to the area less than a year and everyone has been very very welcoming. Respecting my beliefs and religion and even going to the extend of giving me gifts on seasons which I celebrate! This was very surprising to me and wonderful. It makes me want to pay it forward which I did to many people on the road. The area is very diverse therefore, there is always abit of every of everything. Which is a good thing as you learn different stuff and most importantly create a connection. The area is perfect for kids and pets. The only reason why I saw this...I’ve got kids and I see other kids which are friendly and playing. Always waving and smiling. Pets? I don’t have pets but my neighbour does. This doesn’t seem to be a problem to any pet owners or non pet owners. A little history, I use to live in another area not to far from my new house (currently living) I was very very surprise with the change of atmosphere. I was expecting naughty kids, problems and etc. The typical anti behaviour but, I can vouch...it’s been perfect so far. It’s surely not a common problem as I’ve got teenagers who are open with me and haven’t told me any problems they have faced. The only bad part of the neighbourhood is parking. But, it’s not the end of the world...all you got to do is part a few houses down. Overall, the area is friendly, quiet, loyal, honest and welcoming. A good place to create a life or to live in a friendly quiet neighbourhood. You will get the best of both worlds!

Transport

There are bus stops and stations local and the best thing is, they take you to the best places stratford, chingford mount, Walthamstow, leyton and more

Community

My street is friendly, quiet, there is a park local to us. The view is brilliant during the season. Especially on the main rood

Amenities

The most important thing is, FRIENDLY neighbourhood! The people are welcoming/talkative. Second important thing is...the surrounding; everything is local, supermarkets, bars, parks, station and takeaway!

when a tragedy befalls the community we stick together

The atmosphere in my area is very dark and bleak at times but for the most part when a tragedy befalls the community we stick together

Transport

Rubbish is prevalent in most places and graffiti which is an eye sore to new people coming to the area the roads haven’t been paved as well

Community

It’s not that bad for parking there are plenty of places to park and mostly families live on my street

Amenities

The shops are my childhood but this does not excuse the fact that that the area seems run down and has not been gentrified yet.
