I like that the area is quiet and lovely place to return to after a long day's work. There area a few restaurants with not much nightlife as this would be mostly in central London. It is convenient and ideal for families with children and young married couples. There are many upcoming new-builts. It's the kind of place where you know you will be able to settle comfortably and not have to worry about noise and safety.
Transport
SE16 is close to the Canada Water station which happens to be on the Jubilee line and Overground line. The station can get crowded during rush hour, but train come on time mostly. It is also within walking distance to Bermondsey and Surrey Quays stations. There are many buses around the area though traffic on the road can sometimes mean buses are also stuck even though there are separate bus lanes. Recently the cycleway in the area going into central London has been completed and a lot more are using bicycles instead of public transport.
Community
Residents here are diverse and the area is peaceful and close to Central London. Mostly families and working professionals live in the area given its ideal location close to Canary Wharf and London Bridge. Relatively safe area though we have heard of the occasional pick-pockets. Noise level is low given it is a very quiet residential area.
Amenities
Surrey Quays shopping centre is 5 mins away with many shops including clothing and fashion, Tesco Extra, the Range, phone repairs, Halifax and HSBC Bank branches. There's Decathlon near the shopping complex which is very convenient and popular for the local community to get sports equipment and attire. There's also a free public library close to the tube station. Restaurants in the area are not limited. There's a variety of good Italian, British, Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants within close vicinity of one another, and many cafes and pubs open for brunches or wholesome Sunday roasts. There's also a free gym and swimming pool for residents in the area during Fridays (all day), Saturdays and Sundays (after 2pm). There is also a huge park behind the neighborhood that has ping pong tables, tennis courts, playground for children and a nice running path. Residents here are diverse and the area is peaceful and close to Central London.

it's such a cute little area, if renting wasn't so expensive I would stay.

Where I lives there were 3 links to the overground all within a 20 minute walk. Rotherhithe, Canada water and Surrey Quays. Canada water also has the Jubilee line which was useful for me to be at London bridge in less than 15 minutes of leaving home. I would say the only problem would be don't drive there, the traffic was always very busy but cycling/trains/walking was always a great experience.
Community
Parking availability was the only issue really, there was never any parking and the roads were always busy with cars. Aside from that it was quiet and friendly and not many other problems. The street I live on is mostly renters who are single or families, I wasn't aware of many owners or students for that matter.
Amenities
Rotherhithe is a beautiful little area of London that feels like you could be in Amsterdam or Germany! It has cobbled streets and everyone seems to be walking or cycling! Everyone is always very friendly with a smile or a wave as you go past. There's a really old pub called the Mayflower that is perfect for watching the Thames and has a great offer for fish and chips on a Friday. A short walk away to Canada water and you have all the shops you could need, from Tesco to Poundland and even a lovely little hair dressers! It's living in London without the hustle and bustle! Very quiet and calming to be in. I have spent many evenings watching the Thames after work from the Mayflower. I would suggest anyone in the area go and try some of their gorgeous food.

Transport is great when compared to other UK cities but for London is somewhat disappointing. Buses are pass by sparingly leading to wait times of 10+ minutes and the station is lengthy walk away.

The area is great visually and pretty peaceful never really getting too busy or loud, however as mentioned is lacking in terms of amenities and transport. The area is full of primarily homeowners from all corners of life ranging from singles to full families.

Not much is the area unfortunately outside of the local schools, theres a small Tesco, a few Surrey Quays and a burger restaurant. Stave Hill park has to be the most popular place in the area, its this massive green landscape full of a variety of trees and a pond. More local high street shops would really make the place popping as as it is you have to travel out a bit for non essentials.
