I moved to my area from just over a mile way four years ago and I have to say that I really enjoy both the parkland side by side a short walk to the 'Brixton Hub' and so there is nothing that I dislike about my local area. In response to describing the local area there is an upmarket, traditional as well as trendy theme - quite diverse and thereby engaging and affirming for all. Regeneration is now complete within our area with amazing outcomes. The safe, diverse and thereby engaging area means that it is a safe area for children and young families.
Transport
Only a short ten minute walk to the local bus or tube stops which easily connect to Central London with a 15 minute bus ride or five minutes via the tube network. Overground train stations are a 20 minute walk to travel to Kent - Central London or North London are every 5 or 10 minutes wait on the overground train platform. The service of all transport links are particularly reliable for travel both locally as well as throughout London and surrounding area. As with most public transport rush hour means added time to the normal journey time. Night travel is excellent via bus.
Community
Parking is well regulated from on street parking to garage spaces for rental at a reasonable daily, weekly or monthly cost. Lambeth Council as well as estate cleaning services mean that bin collection is of an excellent standard. Anti-social behaviour has been adequately addressed so we now live in our home without the stress and worry of any form of anti-social behaviour. Traffic noise is not an issue given the location three streets back from the main road so a peaceful day and night. A combination of both leaseholders as well as renters composed of wide range of students, elderly young couples and families compose our vibrant and engaging community.
Amenities
A good full range of established supermarkets and added to this is a short walk from home to Brixton with its diverse shopping and incredible markets. Added to shopping there are a large range of different restaurants and bars. Stockwell is knows a Little Portugal and so there are many small to mid range restaurants featuring this cuisine. There are many parks and open spaces which are well looked after by Lambeth Council but also by many local residents enforcing the sense of community. We are blessed by such a selection that it does not feel like local residents or visits are missing any much needed amenities.

I love how trendy some of the bars and pubs are in Brixton although they are on the more pricey side. But this is the usual thing in London at the moment with 'trendy' areas. Brixton has plenty of great parks so if you have a pet its great to take them for walks. Also, Brockwell park hosts a few fun festivals.
Transport
Brixton is also great for transport. From my flat its a short 3-minute walk to Brixton underground station that can get you almost anywhere super fast - there is always a train waiting so your never waiting around to get moving. There are also plenty of bus stops & Santander bikes available around.
Community
Some bad bits of Brixton are: 1) Parking is terrible. there is almost nowhere for free and most spaces require payment (if you can find one) 2) Anti-social behaviour can sometimes be bad in Brixton. There have been several times where I have come hope to people drinking on my doorstep who get aggressive when asked to move & also a few occasions where housemates would get abused with homophobic remarks. Some good bits: Brixton is a busy place and if you like that - it's a great place to be. With it always being busy you can always find something to do or meet amazing new people to learn from.

Brixton is great for amenities. In Brixton, we have so many restaurants with so many cultures and flavours from all over the world. A great spot to find these are in either Pop Brixton or Brixton Village. As for bars Brixton also has some great bars ranging in prices: from cocktail bars to traditional pubs. My personal favourite bar is the cHIP-sHOP as I'm a massive Hip-Hop Fan.

I have used both buses and the tube. Buses are fine and clean. Tube from Clapham Common is packed during peak hours but at least Northern is fast.
Community
Quiet, close to a lot of shops and amenities. It's also very close to many different bus stops, tube and rail stations. Some neighborhoods are more sketchy but you can just avoid walking there.
Amenities
The area has a ton of shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and take-aways. All are within walking distance. There are also a few big stores like Tesco and Lidl.
