Beautiful house but strong lack of community

I believe that the area could be improved by renovating some old buildings that give the idea that the area is underdeveloped.

I am very concerned if I would live in this area if i had family. I don’t feel it is 100% safe for kids to walk alone, There are not very good schools in the neighborhood or generally amenities of kids.

Transport

I am generally disappointed of the transport in my area. We have some bus lines that cover a satisfying part of London, however they are very inconvenient, as the traffic is a huge problem in this city. There is no railway in the neighborhood, only DLR which is not convinrent always. The closest rail stations are in Lewisham (2 stops with DLR), St. John’s and new cross (around 20mins walking)

Community

I am not aware about the parking availability as I don’t own a car. The bin collections is adequate, we barely face problems with this. There is a lot of traffic noise, but mostly because of the 2 fire stations that are located quite close, however I am not annoyed by this in my apartment. I love the local people in the neighborhood, they are polite and willing to help if they are asked for information. There are mostly renters living in my Development, and mostly young individuals or young couples. The Development I live in is right next to Deptford Bridge station, it is very safe and I am extremely satisfied by the facilities offered. It is a big improvement for the neighborhood.

I live in Deptford Bridge and generally I am very satisfied of the area. However I have several suggestions to improve the neighborhood. There are 2 mini Tesco, one AZDA and one Iceland, however they are not big enough, so I face difficulties in finding all the stuff I need. The closest big super markets are in Lewisham, but I need to use transportation in order to go there. Furthermore, I would really like to have some clothes stores in the neighborhood. Lewisham shopping center is 2 DLR stops far, however I think we should have some famous shops in our area too. Furthermore, I believe that the area could be improved by renovating some old buildings that give the idea that the area is underdeveloped. We have a lot of small shops, for example in Deptford High Street, in very small and old buildings that seem to be ready to collapse and might be dangerous for the workers inside. I would also love more trees and flowers on the roads. Natural environment improves psychology and brings fresh oxygen in the neighborhood. As for pubs and restaurants, even if we have some nice and cute in the area, I think we are lacking restaurants for more formal dinners or special occasions. It is a good think that we have Plenty of restaurants with different cousines and I have to admit most of them are delicious. Last but not least,I strongly believe that increase in the transportation is demanded. There are some bus lines but only DLR close. At Johns and New cross are 20mins walking distance and don’t cover as many destinations as they could. I believe that we should have railway in Deptford bridge as well.

Transport

There are numerous transport links to various places within the borough, the service is very reliable and clean, there is not much traffic within the area except for the rare traffic jam. A problem that exists is a lack of night buses and a lack of underground transport for the community

Community

Families mostly live within the street and is a very peaceful place, there is good parking availability and the bins are collected regularly, there is the odd anti social behaviour but this is very rare and traffic noise is kept to a minimum as it is not central London

Amenities

There is a high quality range of corner shops and independent restaurants available in the addition to the high quality open spaces within the surrounding area there are numerous popular local areas such as the pub and adult leisure centres

Beautiful house but strong lack of community

If you have children I would recommend this area as it is quite quiet but if you have a dog I would not recommend as there is not a lot of green area for walking the animals

Transport

There are no stations within my immediate vicinity. But there are a few busses it is a limited selection. It would be best to catch a bus then switch later or get off at your desired station

Community

It is quite a boring area not a lot is going on and the community is essentially non-existent. If you travel out a bit further there are a lot of restaurants with a wide variety

Amenities

To be honest there are not a lot of good stores near my house or anything useful. They all require quite a long walk but it’s too short to just take the car which makes it quite frustrating. There are a few small green areas
