Come & have fun in my end of town.....

I love the mix of different people. I’m unhappy about the closure of Chelsea Police station & the fact you don’t see any police on the beat any more. There is a lot of regeneration in my area & I hate the smell of diesel in the air from all the giant machinery. The atmosphere is not especially upmarket - but it’s real. There are loads of pets & a lot of screaming children too. It’s relatively safe - where is really safe?

Transport

The area is well served by a good supply of buses & Sloane Square tube station is bright & clean right next to to the Royal Court Theatre. One of the best aspects of RBKC is the fact that the parking permits cover the whole of the borough which is much appreciated by the residents.

Community

The charm of Chelsea is the varied mix of owners, & renters, not so many students, but families. And in my immediate vicinity the families have lived in their homes for many years. The Bin Collections are twice a week & are tip top the guys are always helpful & cheerful. Traffic noise is normal for a busy metropolis- even the helicopter noise is fine from the nearby heliport.

Amenities

There is an eclectic mix of shops, bars, clubs,& open spaces in Chelsea. Innovative shops are juxtaposed next to bustling open air cafe’s in the pleasing Duke of York’s Square . Take in some contemporary art in the Saatchi Gallery & treat yourself to the most scrumptious tea & buns in the most delightful patisserie, which sits on the corner of a magical street full of artists studios. The architecture in this area is charming & interesting. I truly can’t think of any amenities that are lacking in my end of town.

he area being more high end is more expensive but the up side is it feels more safe.

The area being more high end is more expensive but the up side is it feels more safe. During the night, the streets are well lit and security is less of an issue. Pets would be a challenge as the streets are quite busy but by going to the right places nearby like Battersea Park, Holland Park, Hyde park, it is totally possible.

Transport

The buses are well connected and the tube stations are a 15 minute walk to either Gloucester road, South Kensington or Sloane Square. The buses are very regular however they do get stuck in traffic so sometimes it is faster to walk, especially during peak travel times. There is a great bus service to Piccadilly Circus which makes it very easy to get into central London

Community

A variety of people live on our street, personally I live in an apartment and some are owners and some are renters. There hasn't been any instances of anti social behaviour but sometimes the traffic noise can get quite loud, especially if someone has removed the muffler, which is surprisingly common.

Amenities

Living in SW3, everything is more on the pricey end, however by shopping wisely and going a bit further than Kings Road or South Kensington and going towards Earls court, things can be get cheaper. The shops towards Sloane Square are more high end and boutique and niche, as one would expect from that area. The streets are very nice and clean and the open spaces are very comfortable. The only down side is the traffic that is pretty bad. A wide range of supermarkets are also available, from Sainsbury's to Coop, all within an easy 5 minute walk. Transport is usually by bus and sometimes by tube. The buses are well connected and you can even take a bus to the nearest tube station if you are feeling lazy. The three museums in South Kensington are only 15 minutes away and you will find a few Imperial students in this area, due to the proximity to the world class university. Battersea park is a nice place to have a walk as well.

A neighbourhood where you won’t get bored

What I like most about my local area is that you have everything you need within a stone’s throw. You won’t get bored as there is always something going on and you feel safe in the neighbourhood. It’s a nice area for children as well, they can safely play in the recently renovated playground on Westfield Park while their parents chat with each other. And for pets is good as well because of the many green areas that there are around.

Transport

I’m very happy in terms of transport. There are many buses that will bring you to the city centre or if you’re in a rush and don’t want to be stuck in traffic you can opt to go by tube or even overground. There are plenty of choices. If you like cycling you’ll find a Santander docking station just in every corner, which is very useful. It would be great if there were more cycle lanes in the area so the cyclists would be safer from the traffic. Traffic is sometimes a problem in some roads like the King’s Road, being the noise made by cars and motorbikes a nuisance for the neighbours.

Community

There is a lot of noise in the road where I live. It comes mainly from traffic and ambulances. At night, on weekends, there are times when you can hear teenagers shouting and talking loudly while they are waiting for an Uber after leaving the night club. There are lots of families living in the area as well as students sharing flats.

Amenities

There is a good range of local shops, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets. You can find many pubs with really good food and also pubs with great views as for instance The Waterside. In terms of restaurants there is a good variety of food, being Italian restaurants the most prevalent. If you want to go for a nice walk there are also some parks and the Thames path where you can relax and enjoy the views.
