Overview of Clapham East

It’s quite a young area, so very popular with new graduates. As a new graduate I wish I’d known this in advance as it’d make the area appeal more. I’d recommend the area to anyone really, it’s also very popular with families. This being due to the amount of green there is and activities to do in the area.

Transport

Not only does Clapham have three underground stations, North, Common and South. But it has the overground next to North. It also have buses that stop everywhere and go to most destinations. All services tend to be reliable, the only issue there is that they are extremely busy during rush hour!

Community

My house is on the main road, so unfortunately it is quite noisy, with police and music of cars being heard inside my room. However, the plus of living on the road makes it feel safer walking back late at night as it’s always busy, it also means it’s easy to access the main high street. There also tends to be easy access to parking, although majority of this is private drives.

Amenities

Clapham has everything, is has all the shops and restaurants you could potentially want, with a large range of choice. Additionally it has Clapham Common, so lots of green space. The overall vibe is also just relaxed and easy to fit in to.

It's overall a safe place like any other place you will see people that may make it seem like a strange area but, we rarely have bad things happening in the area it's at times very quiet and more families have moved to houses around the area so it has become more family friendly over time.

Transport

I personally think it's quite in terms of the tube and buses around the area they come every 3 to 5 mins it gives you enough time to get to a place if you are running late. I haven't seen big issues to consider appart from sometimes it can be quite busy so it's difficult to get inside the transport in the mornings, rush hour time however, after 9 it slowly goes back to normality.

Community

I do feel at times it doesn't feel safe at night it seems there's a few more gangs at certain times sometimes ramdom people can approach you and make you uncomfortable because you just don't know what they want and how they will react as most seemed under the influence of alcohol or even drugs.

Amenities

The area I live is very diverse in terms of shops you can find a variety of different types of restaurant and cafe shops which are cosy and comfortable to just have a friendly catch up with a freind. The area is quite vibrant regardless of the time of day people come from other places to try the bars and clubs near places such at Brixton Clapham ect. It's a placed filled with hidden suprises you just never know what you will find or even try! I do think there could be more things for young people to do in the future as is evident more young people like this area.
