The area is very busy overall and and I wouldn’t recommend walking alone at night

The area is quite nice overall, with friendly neighbours. The high streets (Cricklewood and Kilburn) get very busy and there is usually a lot of rubbish on the streets because of the many shops and restaurants. For some reason there has also been an issue with the water pipes for around 3 years, with freshwater running on the roads. This leads to partial road closures for a few days at a time, with one-way traffic. This means there is a lot of traffic. If you have a garden you should be okay with children or pets, but most parks are around 10-15 minutes by car so keep that in mind.

Transport

Kilburn station serves the Jubilee line, which is great: a train every 3 or so minutes, serving central London and Wembley Park. There is also Brondesbury station (overground line going towards Stratford, or Willesden Junction). Rail replacement buses if the trains are not running, which is rarely. You can rent an electric bike from outside Kilburn station. Great communication links overall. There is usually traffic around 4/5pm.

Community

There is a large variety of people living here. Some families, some single/couples. There are loads of flats because there are a lot of high rise buildings and courts in the area. Bin collections are regular. Traffic noise isn’t bad during the day.

Amenities

There are a lot of fast food restaurants nearby, as well as some great local restaurants of different cuisines. You have everything you need nearby: a post office, banks, shops (a small Tesco and Sainsbury’s ), a GP practice, Specsavers etc. The only somewhat disappointing thing is the lack of green spaces. There is one park called ‘Kilburn Grange’ which is quite nice if you have kids, want to use the outdoor gym or just hang out on the grass with your friends. Besides this park, there aren’t really any green spaces to go on a walk.

Mapesbury area and its lovely places

What I love about this area is that there are many new places to eat that are trendy and young. Also the chance to have a park really close to the house makes a big difference and the presence of almost all the main supermarkets helps a lot.

Transport

My area is perfectly linked with the Luton airport but also with the other ones as the Jubilee Line makes everything easy to reach and it is also one of the more reliable lines, in 5 years it was shut just once. On the other side when there's no Jubilee line service we are cut off from the city centre.

Community

I live in the Mapesbury area and it's a lovely quiet green area, there's no much traffic and I can't hear the tube at all and also the bin collection is regular. I don't have any issue with my neighboors as there are many families or old people and I think that most of them are owners that just love this place to be quiet.

Amenities

I live between Kilburn and Willesden green and I love that I have a busy high street on one side and a more local street with local shops on the other. My area is also surrounded by nice parks, Gladstone park is not so far and there are many little others and I love that on the weekends we are close to both the farmers market in West Hampstead and Queens park. The shops are great in both areas but there's a lack in places for a quick snack for takeaway, like ice cream or pizza or anything to take before a walk, also there is no place for a nice quiet walk apart from the parks or the high streets, I would prefer a big nice wide walkway.
