Diamond in a haystack!

I like the location of the area, the way things are so accessible is just a satisfying thing. The neighbourhood is always quiet and enjoyable too! The area is suitable for all kinds; I had an elderly lady as my neighbour for about eight years, and not one complaint!

Transport

The transport links are very lucky. Everywhere can be accessed from this point. Buses can link to places like Oxford Street, Old Kent Road and Peckham. Camberwell can be accessed easily from here to which can lead you to a train station, same with Elephant and Castle. Rush hour is the usual 12, but only on non school days.

Community

Bin Collections occurred weekly, they are convenient for us. Traffic doesn’t affect us because this area is quite secluded. Parking availability is never a problem, the car park is just below and has available space at all times.

Amenities

This area is very cultured. Just a 10 minute walk from our area is East Street Market, where they sell a range of products, from fresh meat to hair products for anyone, anywhere. Just before that is the Villa Street Medical Centre, where they have a peaceful environment with amazing staff and skills to ensure you leave the GP with the best outcome. There are a range of school situated around it, good for kids that you may have. Popular stores like Iceland, JD Sports, McDonald’s, Boots SuperDrug are all local and can be reached within a walk. Elephant and Castle is just a bus away where the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre lies. This area is a very quiet one, and anyone can get comfortable here. Of course everyone should know that a three minute walk away is Burgess Park, anyone can have parties, walks with pets, annual funfairs and even places of worship are considerable distances away. This area is like a diamond in a jewel, surrounded by lovely places to visit.

Lively familial community

I think despite the really good things around my neighbourhood, like the transport links, newly opened trendy cafes and etc., social issues like crime and the general feeling of being unsafe when walking alone at night, has meant I can’t enjoy the area I live as much as I would like to. I think investments in the area are necessary but complete gentrification will not be good.

Transport

Great transport links; I know I can go practically anywhere in London with ease. Fairly reliable and regular so I’ve never had a large issue travelling However due to busy roads and many buses, I don’t feel safe cycling around here. There have recently been more cycle lanes added but I don’t feel I can trust myself to ride in roads. Leisurely bike rides around the park are fine though.

Community

Minimal traffic noise; I know compared to other streets across London, my street is fairly quiet and away from busy roads. A lot of families live near me which has built a great community. I am good friends with many of them and often hang out together.

Amenities

A lot of large open green spaces available which are enjoyable and especially nice to walk through given the current pandemic. Some really nice cafes and fast food stools but I haven’t had the opportunity to try a lot of them.
