I generally really like my local area since most of the things I need are within 10-15 mins walk. Both the bus and tube goes to my university which is really convenient too. The atmosphere is alright and is generally safe. There’s a school down the road so I guess it’s suitable for children to stay around here.

There’s one bus stop right outside the building and another one about 3 mins walk away (this bus stop has more buses)! Both of these 2 bus stops have night buses which is really convenient. The tube station is 10 mins walk away! There is also Santander bike rentals right outside the tube station if u wanna bike to other places. The tube gets a bit crowded during rush hours but I would say u can still board it at Westbourne Park.
Community
There isn’t much parking space near my street. Since the bus runs 24/7, it’s quite noisy at night as some of the windows face the road. Since I’m living in a student accommodation, every here is students and down the road there’s another student accommodation. Other than that there are some flats that families stay in. The recycling bin in my accommodation is too small for all the students staying in the building, they should add more bins or collect more often. (Currently collection is twice a week).

Good range of shops like Sainsbury, Co-op and Iceland, all within 10 mins walk. There are also lots of small shops which sells very cheap fruit and vegetables! Portobello Market is 15 mins walk away and they have amazing food stalls and it’s really popular with tourists as well. I would say it’s really a great area with lots of options!

We really need Athlone Gardens renewed as soon as possible. It is planned to be completed within 5 years, but the maintenance and cleanliness of the park is absolutely horrifying. We know there is a plan in place to renew the whole thing, but it is definitely being kept abandoned and 5yeats is just too long to have too much rubbish outside your house and to be kept abandoned

Two tube station options available in walkable distance. Have not had very much inconvenience given that we knew we had to walk to the stations by foot

Parking is readily available if you have a resident permit. It can get a bit noisy with some students gatherings around the area but generally fairly quiet. Owners with families live in the area in general

Very good but more local supermarket chains would be convenient. Golbourne road and portobello market nearby are very popular - as there are markets on a daily basis with interesting food and items. Boots is missing around the area!
