The area is very suitable for families with children and pets because of the Clissold park. The area has rich vegetation, minimal pollution and less than average crime rate. The atmosphere matches the bohemians and naturalist with a high than average income and single professionals that buddy up with at least one or two professionals to rent flats as the rent prices are quite high and on top of them is the very expensive council tax. However they will enjoy running in the park and being in a very close to the nature area with good transport connections.
Transport
The tube is quite far for a relatively elderly person. Arsenal Tube station is 13 mins away, Finsbury Park Station is ever farer. In terms of buses they are quite frequent (every 10 mins) and are well connected to the city centre (N19, 341, 141), clean, but they usually have delays or come 1-2 mins earlier. During rush hour is a challenge to be able to get into a bus as way many people than space. Night buses are frequent enough and reliable. The traffic is quite quite during the rush hours and create delays to the buses.
Community
Bin collections are quite regular, good quality of the air because of the rich vegetation, lots of squirrels and animals that make the area very pleasant and natural as opposed to the city centre. The anti-social behavious and sexual assaults are rare as opposed to other parts of London, the traffic noise is diminished by the vegetation. Most of the people in the area are renters, single professionals that share 2 double bedroom flats and mostly families with kids or pets. The area is too expensive for students.
Amenities
It is a relatively safe area with lots of families and pets as there is Clissold park in the neighbourhood. There are good bus connections to the city centre (19, 341, 141). Buildings are relatively old with poor roofs and isolation. The council tax is one of the most expensive in London and does not reflect the amenities of the area. There are plenty of grocery shops, supermarkets and post offices around. The quality of the area is good because of the rich vegetation. I only recommend the area if you are a professional with an above the average salary, if you have kids or pets.
Riversdale Rd, N5 2STLiving in N5 is a total joy
Whilst north London has been our home for a while now, this area is quite new to us and what we have found is it’s excellent sense of community. Walks in nearby parks and along the streets are always a joy (especially when there’s dogs) and with so many local spots for something we always spoilt for choice on the best way possible.
Transport
All transport links within the area are absolutely fantastic, whether it’s by train or tube that you need to travel you always close to a station that can get you in London very quickly. Local bus routes are also a fantastic way of getting around North London, with some lovely views along the way.
Community
Our street is lovely and quiet, with an excellent community vibe. All neighbours we have interacted with are friendly, welcoming and just really great to stand and have a nice chat with.
Amenities
A fantastic range of local restaurants and shops nearby, with a particularly excellent stretch local bakeries up towards Highbury Grove. Also a particular recommendation for the pub the Bank of Friendship - a wonderful local that’s perfect in the Summer on the beer garden, but also in the Winter for a cozy dim light pint by the fire.

Transport
Lots of bus stops, mostly for the 4,19,236 buses that all run pretty regularly. Underground stations (Arsenal and Finsbury Park) are a 10-20 min walk away but all the buses stop there too. The trains run quite regularly as well, although rush hour is obviously very busy (for the buses aswell, often packed with school children).
Community
Apart from the occasional rowdiness on match days the street is quite quiet. Regular and reliable bin collections (but if you’re a few mins late you’ve probably missed it). Mainly families living there
Amenities
N5 is full of handy corner shops, great restaurants and cafes (the pizza place Il Guscio and Sage cafe) and is close to several large parks (Clissold, Highbury Fields, Finsbury Park, Gillespie park). These are all largely on main roads though, so the residential streets remain fairly quiet and calm. Also near the Arsenal Stadium so good fish and chip places that have the best atmosphere on match days.
