Olney Rd, SE17 3HTPeaceful and quiet but only minutes away from all the hustle and bustle.
Although not on my street, but SE17 as a whole has seen a rise in crime. Especially knife and gang related crime. And also there is a rise in cases regarding child kidnapping. This is what needs the most attention. I wouldnt feel safe letting my kids out to play due to this. Regeneration is taking place all over Southwark so that has never been a concern. We have a good mix of people living here.
Transport
There are numerous bus stops within walking distance. Walworth Road offers buses to all over London. Even Elephant & Castle and Kennington tubes stations are within walking distance. In my experience the buses have always been regular, without any delays. The only thing that can hold up the transport service is traffic since the new road system in Elephant & Castle, especially during rush hour. 'Boris Bikes' are available too next to Kennington Station but I think they should be available from Walworth Road so they are more easily accessible for everyone.

I have lived in a small block on a quiet street for nearly nine years now and have not had a single issue with anything or anyone. I think we are a mix of owners, renters, students and working professionals. In my flat we are a family of five, I have seen many families in the building and the street but have also seen couples too. Parking is always available (resident's permit) and bins are collected regularly. Have never had an issue with post and parcels either.

I live pretty close to Walworth Road which more or less has all the amenities that are needed. A couple of good places to eat in or take away food too. However there is two Tesco Metro's on the same road which I always thought was odd and uneccesary. Maybe one of them good be a small Sainsbury's instead so we get to have that variety. Both Burgess Park and Kennington Park are within walking distance and both offer huge open spaces for nice walks and bike rides.

I love the atmosphere and mostly the transport links, that’s my fave part. Kennington park is also nice and green and offers a lovely area for a walk or to sit and read in warm weather. There’s some building work at the moment which is a bit loud, but otherwise it’s great!

The transport is amazing! Kennington is where the northern line divides - so it goes pretty much anywhere you need. If you want busses, there are direct ones to Waterloo + Aldwych, as well as busses to London bridge, Westminster and beyond. It’s so well connected. Walworth road also has loads of bus links!

I would say parking is a little lacking, but it’s ok because of all the transport links. It’s a super quiet and residential area so it feels safe and is great for couples and families. I would say not ideal for students as it’s too quiet to throw parties and be rowdy

The area is good for amenities in the sense that there’s a nice street of restaurants/pubs/tesco by kennington station. That means you can usually grab any groceries on the way home, and kennington is so well connected that it’s easy to meet others there. From Asian food to a quintissential British pub - you’ll find almost anything you want! There’s also a large Morrison’s on walworth road which has anything the small tesco lacks.

This area would be great if it went through urban regeneration, I feel like it needs more luxurious hot spots like shopping malls, restaurants and parks. Since the buildings are very old it doesn’t give that brand new appeal.

There are many cycle lanes which is good, but be careful you will be at risk of losing your bike to a thug. The main transport around her are buses, especially the P5 which goes through different routes. The nearest train station is Oval which is not bad at all.
Community
The houses here are typically flats, nothing special at all. In fact the flats are pretty old are are dirty inside. The council makes an effort to keep them clean but have a hard time due to the graffiti and disrespect by gang members.
Amenities
This area is very dangerous if you’re not familiar with it. Countless times I’ve seen people up to no good. Stay safe around this area. There aren’t really any top tier restaurants so I wouldn’t recommend looking around for any. The most you could find are your local chicken shops, or off licenses.
