Overview of North Walworth

The atmosphere here is interesting, when you walk on the street you can hear people speaking different languages and for me is amazing the cultural diversity. I really enjoy it

Transport

I love everything about here. I feel very safe at night when I need to take the bus, tub or overground. I can’t think of anything bad

Community

I see more family and couples living here than students, and I feel safe when I walk alone. The traffic noise is not a problem. Bin collection is also fine.

Amenities

I love the open spaces that you can find here specially when there are lights on the three and big elephants. The shops are okay, you can find a lot of them in this area and so much variety. I haven’t seen many bars and pubs but a lot of restaurants, very internationals from Latino to Vietnamese.

Elephant and Castle is most definitely on the up. The new developments near the recently closed shopping centre are exciting, and I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring to the area! Hopefully the police continue to target the anti social behaviour that plagues the main line train station entrance as this will make the area feel much safer at night.

Transport

The tube station is very convenient, and the buses timetable is wonderful. Transport is extremely cheap compared to other areas of the country. The roads are very busy at rush hour, however the bus lanes remain clear apart from cyclists.

Community

The street is very loud as it is a main road, and there is a lack of secure parking. However, the public transport links are wonderful. There is some anti-social behaviour outside the mainline train station entrance at night, but if you avoid this by sticking to the main road the area is quite pleasant.

Amenities

Since Elephant and Castle shopping centre shut down, the amenities have been woeful. Shops are spread out on Walworth Road, rather than in a unified location. This makes it much more difficult to go shopping. There is also a lack of restaurants where you can sit in and eat. There are plenty of delicious takeaways though!
