I’d say the atmosphere can be quite mixed but for the most part pretty up-market and trendy. Lots of gyms and yoga centres, independent cafes, salons, gastropubs. I think it’s a good area for children and pets probably as there are nice big parks though like all of London it can be dangerous in areas.
Transport
Transport links are excellent and actually the reason we moved here. There are bus stops all over the place and I live only about a ten minute walk from Clapham Junction station which services many different train lines. Although I don’t have a tube station within walking distance. Clapham Junction is on the Overground line so you can access the underground network from there, or you can easily travel to Waterloo or Victoria much quicker than the tube would take you. The trains go so frequently that I can leave my house and be on the Southbank within around half an hour. The biggest problems with transport are rush hour at Clapham Junction. I was very worried before moving here, but it’s alright most days, although like everywhere in London it has it’s bad days. It does get very busy most days on rush hour and you may have to wait for one train to go and get on the next one in the mornings perhaps to get to Central London, but as they go so frequently (every few minutes) this usually isn’t a big issue. Despite it getting very busy at Clapham Junction station I would say the benefits of the transport links outweigh the negatives and I’d still say transport is excellent.

My street is mostly couples or families, I would be surprised if we had many students. We haven’t had to deal with any anti-social behaviour on our street since moving here 18 months ago. Bin collections are weekly and there isn’t really ever rubbish in the street, I see street cleaners pretty frequently. We get noise from planes overhead but don’t hear much traffic. We don’t have a car so I can’t really comment on parking, but when we have had visitors they haven’t ever had an issue parking on the road or even near our house.

I think the type best catered to by my local area would maybe be “foodies”, as there is such a broad range of delicatessens, bakeries, cafes, zero-waste refill food stores, gastropubs and so on, both chains and independent. I’d say perhaps where we are lacking is in more independent shops, we have some of course but most shops are chains. In terms of open spaces I can also get out to the gorgeous Battersea Park or to Wandsworth Common, both within walking distance of my flat.

I like that there are numerous shops located nearby from fashion stores to electronics and anything else you may need. There is a large Sainsburys too for your daily needs. The atmosphere in my area is very relaxed and the locals are always friendly. The area is suitable and safe for children as they will find many activities in close proximity such as parks, leisure centers, and hangout spots.

SW18 is no different from other areas in London in terms of the multitude of public transport options. There are lots of bus stops located in the area and Wandsworth Town station is a short walk for those wishing to travel by train. Although there may be some traffic outside Southside shopping center, buses still arrive regularly and are a reliable mode of transport.
Community
Knoll Road is a lovely street to live on. There is parking available on both sides of the road however this also makes the street a little narrow and sometimes difficult for larger vehicles to pass through. Nevertheless, there is no anti-social behavior on the road and almost no traffic noise. Most homes are occupied by families who are owners and some renters. Bin collections happen on a regular basis once a week and overall it's a very pleasant experience living in SW18.

I am fortunate to live in an area that is very close to a large shopping mall (Southside Shopping Center) and we have many restaurants and bars to pick from. Just opposite the shopping center is an open space park where many people regularly go for a run or to walk their dogs. You will just about find anything in close proximity such as gyms, restaurants, cinemas and plenty of shops.

There are cycle routes and a decent range of transports links such as busses and a train station not too far away. During rush hour it can be pretty busy and takes a while to get down the roads. Other than that there are no other problems.

There are not pets allowed in the area that I live in although some people have then anyways. There are also not many children. Parking it’s not great and often have a walk from available parking to accommodation. Bin collection is also not great and is left to pile up quite a bit before it is cleaned.

The quality of local shops are not too good and are often out of stock, but there are multiple restaurants that are always fully with friendly people.
