Overview of N4 2QA, Portland Rise, Finsbury Park

There's a local gym for everyone who wants to use it, a local church and mini mosque for anyone's religious. A reservoir which is one of the biggest attractions in London, most families tend to come. Some restaurants and pizzerias nearby. Local stores like sainsbury's who which makes living easier without a car. A lot of parking spaces and actuvities to join like sailing and kayaking for the sport lovers. Overall a peaceful and friendly place.

Transport

Luckily our area is near to a train station just down the road which most people access, sometimes it does get busy during work hours however there's a bus station right next to it which can easily lead you to your destination without a worry. There's a highway, so there's a lot of space for cars to move around which means its really rare if there's traffic. However if there is traffic there are many other routes you can take to reach your destination. Trains are regular and connect to kings cross. The station is slightly dirty however it's peaceful when you want a calm ride home or to work. The Main Street is clean, about 3.5/5 I've seen many cleaners around that help out.

Community

There I see a lot of flat screen in our area and a lot still being built which has around 3-4 bedrooms, there's many families who come around especially to the nearest park that has playground and activities that they can have. There's a few students but rarely cause there's no colleges or universities nearby, only a secondary school. Bin collections are regular and keep the streets clean, everyone is friendly, especially store keepers. Not much traffic noise, it's mostly quite unless you travel outside. There's a lot of parking spaces, if you live in flats you've hotbed your own parking area. There's a gym you can visit and a church which means there's a lot of parking areas.

Amenities

We have a local reservoir/lake which is the biggest attraction including the swans and ducks that live there which attracts families especially in the summer where most people are out in the park they can let their children play in the playground. There's also lesson for sailing or kayaking. The second lake has a coffee shop that most people like to visit when they've walked round or rest, most families also walk over there to spend time in the shade in summer. The area also has new constructions, flats that look stunning at night when it lights but up and most people buy the flats because of the view at the top where you can see the whole of London. There's a fountain that changes colours and lights up especially during the night. Local stores and cafes around so you don't be have to walk off too far for the store. It's the best place in London.

The area is not too trendy. It is rather homier and more oriented towards families, children and a community. People are a lot friendlier and the residences are a lot bigger than anything else closer to London. It is suitable for kids as there are a lot of neighbouring schools, very good quality ones as well. However, if you wish to have a "trendy" night it is better to travel a bit further and reach central London... this area is perfect for a chill weekend at home during rainy periods!

Transport

Around where I live, the closest tube stops and Finsbury Park and Manor House. Finsbury park offers a large range of important lines such as the Picadilly and Victoria lines, it is also one stop away from Highbury & Islington, a stop that has access to many national trains and important railway services. As for Manor House, it only offers the Picadilly line, however, I tend to find it calmer and smaller than Finsbury Park, whilst it may take longer to travel from Manor House, it Is calmer and a lot more accessible than Finsbury Park during rush hour. This brings me to my next point: Rush Hour. As this area is very residential, there are lots of people travelling to work towards central London which can be a bit of a pain during rush hour, often the Victoria Line is fast despite it being packed, the Picadilly Line, however, tends to be a bit slower and the tubes arrive with less frequency. I have found that the buses from central London take an extremely long route to get to the area, taking it an hour or so to get home, however most run by night as well and they are extremely useful to travel to suburbs.

Community

My street is formed by many lovely neighbors, some families, students, couples and even some people living alone. This provides a lovely mix of personalities to live around. There is not a lot of noise on the street and if there is, it is mainly harmful to teenagers or bike riders. The bin services are great and always on time, this part of London also recycles and it works in a splendid way, the bin men are always on time and extremely nice. I live in a one-way street off the main road so we never have any time of traffic noise, however, I cannot speak for ones living on the main road.

Amenities

The range of supermarkets is impeccable, from lower-cost supermarkets such as Lidl and Poundland to smaller and slightly more expensive stores such as Tesco and Sainsbury's, you can find anything you wish at nearly all price points. I would say the only improvement that my area could have offer supermarkets such as ASDA or Iceland hence more supermarkets which deliver more quantity based products for a lower price point. As for bars and restaurants, there are a number of small, family-owned hospitality services, normally you will not find big chains of either, therefore they are much more consumer-centric and extremely nice and generous staff members for a true home-like experience. However, as the rules of lockdown have recently been implemented, this part of the area has unfortunately not had the ability to flourish. On apps such as deliveroo and uber eats, however, most restaurants and bars around the area can be found and offer a spectacular service, this way I try to help my local business as much as possible!
