The area can be quite sketchy sometimes at night, with drunk people or homeless on the Old Kent Road. Although I have never been approached personally, I avoid going there after 12 am. I wouldn’t describe the area as trendy or specifically attractive, but overall still as good and suitable for all kinds of people.
Transport
As I am quite far from tube stations I usually take buses from Old Kent Road, which offer a brilliant connection to all areas of London. Traveling to my university is made easy through the amount of buses that go towards central London and offer me flexible time management. I think there is enough night buses and I always manage to get home, whatever time of the night. Sometimes it would be good to have a tube station closer to me, simply for the amount of time journeys on buses can take.

I am very happy about living in my street, as it’s a very quiet, clean and peaceful neighborhood, although we are still in close walking distance to the busy Old Kent Road. I like the amount of shops I have nearby and the living space I get for what I pay. There is a variety of people, including students and pensioners, but mostly young professionals and families living on our street.
Amenities
Bermondsey Street is very popular and nice for cafes as well as pubs. I don’t often go down to Peckham, but sometimes we do for particular event. I usually to go to my nearest Tesco or Lidl on Old Kent Road when it comes to doing my general shop.

I love this area and I always suggest it to my friends. We have 2 beautiful park ideal for walks, and a few smaller green areas perfect for a quick dog walk in the evening. It’s not very trendy, however a short walk toward tower bridge takes you to the arches, with multiple pubs.

Super happy with the transport links - bus no 1 takes me all the way to central London and Oxford street, jubilee line is just 10 mins walk. If I need to get in other direction and don’t feel like catching a tube, there are multiple bus lines to choose on the old kent road.
Community
We never struggle with parking availability on our road, however it can be a little tricky to park in the area as all the spots are permit only. It was never an issue for me since I prefer to walk and not drive. I heard about some anti social behaviours and sometimes hear a police siren, but never on my street. Only issue would be the occasional dog waste not picked up by the dog owners. My neighbours are mostly elderly house owners, who are very friendly.

The selection of shops is amazing, I very rarely need to get out of Bermondsey for my essentials. Just 2 mins always from my place I have Tesco and Iceland, and 2 international food markets. If I need to make bigger shopping, 10-15 mins walk there’s Asda, another Tesco and Lidl. When it comes to the restaurants, I’ve never really been to any in the area, but the pub selection is rather spectacular!

It is very busy at all times-loud and dirty. It can be quite noisy with crowds of people, and a lot of anti social behaviour.

Old kent road does not have very much on offer- only run down places. Burgess park can be nice, but also quite a lot of antisocial behaviour
