The area is suitable for children and pets but larger families tend to live on the roads off Northcote road as it’s a bit more rural. I love the area but I’m in my 20s so haven’t got a family of my own yet. I wouldn’t call it trendy or particularly up market near the station but further down its upmarket. Some shops need regeneration and they need to stop school kids hanging around on St. John’s road intimidating people and dropping litter. Other than that I really enjoy living here.
Transport
Clapham junction station is fantastic, it gets incredibly busy at rush hour but can get you to pretty much any tube line in 10 minutes or less. I used to live near a tube but don’t miss it at all. Lots of buses too. The trains are fairly clean as expected but not sparkling. Trains are reliable.
Community
Bin collection for me is on a Wednesday and they do recycling and normal every week. I live very near the station but never hear the trains or Clapham grand. My street are mainly owners I believe, mixture of couples and families. There is some antisocial behaviour especially at the end of the road by Waitrose and sometimes youths will play loud music and smoke weed sitting outside peoples houses but not that often. There’s been a lot of bicycle theft and there are a lot of litterbugs.

The range of shops is good and St John’s road and Northcote road have pretty much everything you could want although more and more independents are closing down sadly and being replaced with cafes or very niche food places (like a hot chocolate shop). It makes it interesting but I can’t see them lasting. Wandsworth common and Clapham Common are popular areas and the M&S and Waitrose are people’s go to shops for top ups but big shops could be at Lidl or Asda. Debenhams used to be popular but has recently shut down and we aren’t sure what will be replacing it. TK Maxx also very popular. Lovely bars and pubs down Northcote road and Battersea rise and good restaurants too (mix of independent and chains).

The area is suitable for children in the streets, but it can be busy and noisy on the main high road with cars and buses. This area is my dream place and wouldn't leave at any cost. If you can aford to live here, then it would be the best move you would ever make.
Transport
london transport is very good. Many tube stations and buses, for local stops or to go straight to inner London. Its easy to catch a black cab and local bus stops are everywhere.
Community
There are many shops and pubs in the area so it can get quite busy especially at peak times and evenings. The local folks are friendly. It's not quite as modern as the inner part of the city, most houses are victorian in design and can be expensive to rent or buy - there is a premium to live in this part of London. The area is very clean and tidy with street bins and during the evening the street lights are quite bright which helps us to feel safe and secure.

Shopping is fantastic in this area whether it be buying a phone, a pair of shoes or your weekly food shop. They're all a stone throw away from each other. Parks and outdoor space is limited, but the common is only a 5 minute walk away where you can relax after a good shop.

There have been occasional instances of anti-social behaviors and killing of young adults probably belonging to gangs as happend around other London boroughs. Most areas are safe but I would avoid going close to estates when dark comes.

Quality of shops is average with very few locals but several chains so the food is pre-cooked and not freshly made. The area has been targeted by new comers with disposable income and therefore prices increased considerably ove r the last 10 years. personally would love a bigger Waitrose.
