Most people take great care of their front gardens and most of the houses are very pretty and well looked after. There are gardening awards that are run locally and people take pride in their front gardens and put up posters about littering. Area is suitable for pets and children - there is a vet on the high street and many gps around. The area is super safe and has a low crime rate. I always feel safe when out and about on my own. The best part about living here is the open spaces, restaurants, shops and general facilities.
Transport
Cannot comment on traffic as have only lived here during Covid but it has never been an issue. Travel links are great with overground from earlsfield to Waterloo or our into Surrey. Also the tube on Southfields high street is the district line which takes you to London and out to Wimbledon. They often run works on both lines but usually one is running. There are also great bus links and it is easy to get to nice places on foot that are nearby. The trains are as clean as most of the trains in the country....

Parking can be tricky and you cannot always park near your house. You also have to get a permit from the council which is around £200 for a year and wasn’t easy to obtain. Bins are collected every Thursday - no complaints other than it can be hard to get the council to send out recycling bags when you need them and again have to go on the website to apply for them or pick them up from the office. It is super quiet where we live not much traffic and mainly families and professional couples leave nearby. There is a good mix of renters and owners.

I love living in Southfields as it has so much nearby. You have Earlsfield station which takes you into Waterloo and has tons of great pubs, restaurants and food shops outside the station. We are a short walk from Wimbledon tennis courts and Wimbledon Park which has a boating lake and golf club. There is also Wimbledon village which is a 30 min walk away where there are great restaurants like the Ivy and Giggling Squid. Also some great charity shops. In Southfields itself you have the district line which takes you into central and into Wimbledon. Also Southfields high street has a gym, m&s food, gails bakery, french patisserie and Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s local and a post office! The area is also super pretty and people adopt the soil around where the trees are planted along the pavement and put in flowers and ornaments. I feel super safe walking around Southfields and happily go to the gym at whatever time I like morning or evening. There are lots of open spaces as there is Wandsworth and wimbledon common fairly nearby. There is also Southfields shopping centre which has lots of great shops: Waterstones, hotel chocolat, new look, boots, Superdrug. It also has fast food restaurants and a cinema. Parking is a bit of a pain as you have to get a permit from the council which is tricky and costs around £200 a year. Close access to the A3 and M4 which is great for getaways plus easy to get into central London. I love living here!!

I like that Wandsworth seems like a town within the big city. It feels like home to me after moving down from a village. The sense of community good within the block I live in however I don’t really feel it with the wider community. Possibly because of how much people move around. I’ve always felt that Wandsworth is safe although some more street lights are needed in king George’s park. Overall I love living in Wandsworth!
Transport
The train service from Wandsworth town is relatively good, usually on time and approx one every 10 mins. I think Wandsworth would benefit from a tube station linking it to parts of central London other than Waterloo. Southfields or East Putney are the closest and they’re at least 20 mins away. There’s night busses direct from central to Wandsworth although they could do with being slightly more regular. Other than the lack of a tube the travel in and around Wandsworth is great by public transport. The roads are usually really busy especially around rush hour.
Community
I live in hardwicks square and it is usually pretty quiet. Occasionally at the weekends there is shouting at night in the square. Only a couple of times in the last year has this lasted for many hours. I think our block is mostly renters, usually young professionals. Parking is not good in Wandsworth. It is all either private residential or extremely expensive. It would be pointless having a car in Wandsworth unless you had a designated parking space.

In the Southside area most of the shops and restaurants are chain. However, head down to the Wandsworth town train station area and a plethora of bistros and independent restaurants make for a wonderful evening. Wandsworth is packed with things to do like tennis, archery, shopping and restaurants. There’s also a relatively new food market outside Southside now which includes hot meals, jams and fruit and veg.

The high street is amazing, there are a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. However the block where I live, the entrance is very dirty, lifts smell of urine. Incidents of arson, luckily picked up very quickly. Just waiting to move out ASAP
