Most people take great care of their front gardens and most of the houses are very pretty and well looked after. There are gardening awards that are run locally and people take pride in their front gardens and put up posters about littering. Area is suitable for pets and children - there is a vet on the high street and many gps around. The area is super safe and has a low crime rate. I always feel safe when out and about on my own. The best part about living here is the open spaces, restaurants, shops and general facilities.
Transport
Cannot comment on traffic as have only lived here during Covid but it has never been an issue. Travel links are great with overground from earlsfield to Waterloo or our into Surrey. Also the tube on Southfields high street is the district line which takes you to London and out to Wimbledon. They often run works on both lines but usually one is running. There are also great bus links and it is easy to get to nice places on foot that are nearby. The trains are as clean as most of the trains in the country....

Parking can be tricky and you cannot always park near your house. You also have to get a permit from the council which is around £200 for a year and wasn’t easy to obtain. Bins are collected every Thursday - no complaints other than it can be hard to get the council to send out recycling bags when you need them and again have to go on the website to apply for them or pick them up from the office. It is super quiet where we live not much traffic and mainly families and professional couples leave nearby. There is a good mix of renters and owners.

I love living in Southfields as it has so much nearby. You have Earlsfield station which takes you into Waterloo and has tons of great pubs, restaurants and food shops outside the station. We are a short walk from Wimbledon tennis courts and Wimbledon Park which has a boating lake and golf club. There is also Wimbledon village which is a 30 min walk away where there are great restaurants like the Ivy and Giggling Squid. Also some great charity shops. In Southfields itself you have the district line which takes you into central and into Wimbledon. Also Southfields high street has a gym, m&s food, gails bakery, french patisserie and Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s local and a post office! The area is also super pretty and people adopt the soil around where the trees are planted along the pavement and put in flowers and ornaments. I feel super safe walking around Southfields and happily go to the gym at whatever time I like morning or evening. There are lots of open spaces as there is Wandsworth and wimbledon common fairly nearby. There is also Southfields shopping centre which has lots of great shops: Waterstones, hotel chocolat, new look, boots, Superdrug. It also has fast food restaurants and a cinema. Parking is a bit of a pain as you have to get a permit from the council which is tricky and costs around £200 a year. Close access to the A3 and M4 which is great for getaways plus easy to get into central London. I love living here!!

Transport
Extremely well connected with the SWR station Earlsfield (3 minutes from Clapham Junction, 11 minutes from Waterloo), the district line at Southfields and the Northern line at Tooting all within a short distance. There are also buses direct to Putney, Victoria and Waterloo for cheaper travel 24 hours a day. There are Santander bikes to rent outside Southside shopping centre. The main junctions at Garratt Lane and Magdalen Road and Penwith Road and Earlsfield road can become busy at rush hour.

There is a variety of people living on our street. Young family homeowners, older residents who have been in the area for many years, and young renters. It is family friendly. Being close to the main street and station the area can be busy with deliveries, workers and people passing throughout the day, all week, but it is very peaceful at night. There are resident parking restrictions 9-4 on weekdays with lots of spaces and the option to pay as you park. There is free parking at weekends. Bins are collected weekly although we sometimes have passers by flytipping near the station.

Earlsfield has an assortment of independent cafés, bars, restaurants, beauty salons and shops. There are two good supermarkets plus an independent deli and butcher's - Dugard and Daughters - which stocks an impressive range of high welfare produce. Earlsfield residents can take advantage of being located in the middle of Garratt Lane, with plenty more retailers, pubs and restaurants to choose from. Highlights are the Earlsfield, with its range of world beers and wines and excellent pub grub, Amrutha all-you-can-eat vegan, Bean & Hop brunch and coffee, Marina fish bar and Blume florists. Located at each end of Garratt Lane are Wandsworth and Tooting, with more shopping options at Southside (including Waitrose, Planet Organic and the Sainsbury's superstore) and the excellent Tooting and Broadway markets for independent shops, bars and restaurants. King George's park along the Wandle river is an excellent outdoor space with tennis courts, a lake, children's play areas and skate park. It is also a short walk from the beautiful Wandsworth common.

36, Black Female - from my perspective the positives are it’s safe, quiet (also a con), good schools. Typical mid-upscale suburban neighborhood. Cons- everything SHUTS DOWN around 7pm, restaurants are all national chains and there is zero diversity. I never see anyone who looks like me and the people are not particularly warm or friendly towards minorities imo. I come from East London and I miss it terribly and am thinking of maybe moving eventually. But if you love quiet and don’t do much but sit home with your kids in the evening - this is the place for you. If you are looking for excitement, vegan food, trendy restaurants/ bars, neighborhood events that aren’t “posh”, look to another neighborhood.

Southfields station is accessible and step free, with access to the district line. It is hardly ever busy and there are lots of seats. If you use private transportation, pretty much everything is within a 15-minute drive depending on where you live. Traffic is rarely bad and there are several different routes you can take to wherever you're going.

Just like any area there are good and bad. I love the quiet street that I reside in, there is not much going on just waving hello to your neighbors every now and then. Parking is not a problem as it is normally included in the house rent. I would like to see better assistance, resources and opportunities for the youth.

This is a nice quiet area that has many things to offer, from supermarkets to beauty shops. Everything is in walking distance. While I live in the outskirts of Wandsworth, even here the walkability of the area is still rather high. There are restaurants and shops all over the place not to mention that when you go near the river it only increases. I wish there were more vegan food and healthy options for restaurants and bars.
