The area is a mix of neighbourhoods and different atmospheres throughout. I can easily reach Knightsbridge and Harrods which is always busy and very touristy but I usually prefer walking towards South Kensington into Fulham road or further into king’s road. You will find yourself walking into some beautiful tree lined streets with colourful houses in Godfrey street (reminds me of Notting hill) or red brick period Mansions and beautiful Mews. There are families and dogs and you can casually hear kids playing from some of the best schools in London. I love to walk and hear kids screaming and having fun as it makes me feel hopeful for the future. I am 32 years old and don’t intent to have kids but I love to see them around. In terms of safety I would rate this a safe area with the casual car or house break in which is unavoidable these days but many streets have privately funded security at night time and that’s a bonus.
Transport
When it comes to transport links I cannot complain. South Kensington, Gloucester Road and Knightsbridge station are all without walking distance providing a reliable service all year round. Bus routes 49, 74, 114, 14, 70, C1, 430, 345 are also available at your door covering day and night service. The only issue is the amount of traffic we tend to get between Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner. It should be only a 7 minute ride but it can easily take 20 or more minutes by bus or car. It is that crazy so rush hour is a no for me and I’d rather walk.

I live in a garden square tucked away from the very busy brompton road. So, in between Knightsbridge and South Kensington. It is quite and very clean in my opinion. The Kensington and Chelsea borough does a brilliant jobs. Brompton Road is busy at every time of the day and night but being in a garden square changes that and it makes me feel almost as if I lived somewhere else. My neighbours are a mix of owners and renters but I would say mostly renters like myself and mostly Europeans. The main issue we face, however, is antisocial behaviour with fast cars driving as if they were in Silverstone. It produces noise especially in quite square gardens. They wouldn’t do it in Dubai because they can get arrested there but somehow they feel like they can do it here in London.
Amenities
I can describe the area I live as quite central in London. There is a wide range of upscale and long established restaurants from my favourite Italian to Russian, Chinese or Russian all within walking distance. The area is also filled with retail shops which range from fast fashion to luxury boutiques with the likes of Chanel and Hermes. Yet, the best part is the amount of green areas and open spaces we have available which is a true blessing as it motivates me on my morning walks and throughout the day. With tree lined streets, gorgeous garden squares and Hyde park at your door, spring and autumn are truly a feast for the eyes. Not to forget all the amazing local shops offering the best groceries out there from all over Europe. I cannot see myself living in London without those French and Italian delicatessen. Yes, I love my cheese, my DOP Pasta and my extra virgin olive oil as much as my local pub. In the recent years we have seen a growth in cafes but I am missing the wine bars and aperitifs we once had. Unfortunately those little places have moved out of the area but I remain hopeful for them to come back. Harrods is particular popular as well as the Victoria and Albert, Science and Natural History museums for reason I recommend morning visits between Monday and Wednesday. Any other day or time tends to get busy and crowded.
I’ve always felt incredibly safe in my area too, and began taking the public bus home from school alone when I was 10 without any problems.
I like how accessible all parts of London are for me. When I’ve had friends from university visit, it’s been very easy to do a lot of fun activities. The area is suitable for children, maybe less so for pets because of a lack or gardens. I’ve always felt incredibly safe in my area too, and began taking the public bus home from school alone when I was 10 without any problems.
Transport
There are lots of cycle stations, bus stops and tube stations (Picadilly line, District Line, Circle Line), not to mention nearby train stations at West Brompton and Clapham Junction which are a bus ride away. The transport is often clean and I easily get night buses or the night tube home if I’m out late. The Fulham Road and Kings Road can get very busy during Chelsea Football matches, which can be bad however.

I mostly live near families. Parking is usually good, and I rarely hear traffic noise from my room although on the other half of the house we don’t like to open windows up onto the Fulham Road. My street mostly contains owners, although renters have come and gone over time. Bin collection comes twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Amenities
Around my house, there is an excellent range of supermarkets and boutique food stores. Within an 8 minute walk from my house, I have a Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys and Marks and Spencers, which is very convenient should you ever need to buy something last minute. The restaurants and bars can often be expensive on the Kings Road and in South Kensington, but there is a great variety and my friends who live in other boroughs often come to visit me as I live close to many good options. Since I live between Battersea Park and Hyde Park, I never feel far from open space too. For my younger group of friends, Putney high street and central London are probably the most popular local areas we visit to go out, and these are both easily accessible. I honestly feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in my area, and there’s very easy access to pretty much anywhere nearby on public transport. There are no amenities my area is lacking.
South Kensington needs to improve
There is something lost in South Kensington, seems that people are moving away fro. It and the only reason we exist are the museums I would like it to be more trendy with new shops and lovely restaurants, not only cafes and prett , our weekends market is so small and lack of variety
Transport
South Kensington Station is a very busy and popular for locals and tourists, its well linked with the picadilly and District line ( but the station needs maintenance, its very dirty ) I would like if one day they can water pressure clean it . All around there is a well distributed buss line, which goes towards white city , Victoria , he city, Fulham etc
Community
I live in a mews so basically families with kids, around the area I have seem is more family oriented, there are several schools and private parks The collection of the rubbish is very good and efficient, however the streets are prety dirty and greasy, I ve seen in Oxford Street they clean it with water pressure. Where i live is very quite , our house is not facing the main road , but I guess fulhsm road and old Brompton road are quite noisy to live in
Amenities
I live in South Kensington, the most popular street is old Brompton road, there sre a few small cafes and restaursnts but nothing high end , they all look pretty shaby and not well kept , dirty streets full of closed business, I would like it to be a little more like the Kings road, in the south ken station there are some restaurant around but they all look super touristy, not very appealing for residents. And there aren't any clothing shops , I have to walk towards the Kings road or John lewis to shop.
Love the shops

It’s quite a young neighbourhood which makes it quite lively - there are lots of students around.

I feel that there are not enough trash and recycling bins on the residential streets.
