My area is not too crowded, and lovely and modern, however my street and those directly surrounding it are all quite similar looking. Further afield, houses are full of a lot more character, but the proportion of new builds near me mean we lose some of that. I see children out and about all the time, and the copious number of schools nearby is testament to the neighbourhood’s family friendly status. I have never felt unsafe in the area surrounding my home.
Transport
The Northern line available from Oval and Kennington stations is hugely convenient, and never too horrendously busy even at the most crowded times. Buses are regular and comprehensively service all of the major roads in the area. However, the availability of widespread safe cycle lanes means that is also a popular choice for residents commuting in the area. Vauxhall is a slightly further but still manageable walk away. I have yet to have any troubles with the timetabling of bus routes either which is a nice change!
Community
The area is a mixture of renters and owners, families and students, but all are incredibly respectful of one another and the neighbourhood feels both friendly and safe. The bin collection is very efficient, and underground garbage storage means the area remains very pretty even just before collection day. My street and the surrounding roads are very quiet given our proximity to both Brixton Road and New Camberwell Road, which is a huge relief. The only problem is parking availability, which I usually find to be quite limited.

The Oval / Kennington area to the North is a lovely bustling hub of great pubs and restaurants whilst simultaneously boasting good transport links. The Kennington is our local, and we love it there! Also nearby is Camberwell, similarly full of useful supermarkets and a huge range of great food from all kinds of cuisines. Local parks like Kennington Park and Myatt’s Fields Park break up the busier areas with quiet green spaces, and the whole neighbourhood feels very well looked after and incredibly safe. The only thing I’d like is to be a little closer to the river, but the absence of huge roads and horrendous traffic makes up for it!

I moved to my area from just over a mile way four years ago and I have to say that I really enjoy both the parkland side by side a short walk to the 'Brixton Hub' and so there is nothing that I dislike about my local area. In response to describing the local area there is an upmarket, traditional as well as trendy theme - quite diverse and thereby engaging and affirming for all. Regeneration is now complete within our area with amazing outcomes. The safe, diverse and thereby engaging area means that it is a safe area for children and young families.
Transport
Only a short ten minute walk to the local bus or tube stops which easily connect to Central London with a 15 minute bus ride or five minutes via the tube network. Overground train stations are a 20 minute walk to travel to Kent - Central London or North London are every 5 or 10 minutes wait on the overground train platform. The service of all transport links are particularly reliable for travel both locally as well as throughout London and surrounding area. As with most public transport rush hour means added time to the normal journey time. Night travel is excellent via bus.

Parking is well regulated from on street parking to garage spaces for rental at a reasonable daily, weekly or monthly cost. Lambeth Council as well as estate cleaning services mean that bin collection is of an excellent standard. Anti-social behaviour has been adequately addressed so we now live in our home without the stress and worry of any form of anti-social behaviour. Traffic noise is not an issue given the location three streets back from the main road so a peaceful day and night. A combination of both leaseholders as well as renters composed of wide range of students, elderly young couples and families compose our vibrant and engaging community.

A good full range of established supermarkets and added to this is a short walk from home to Brixton with its diverse shopping and incredible markets. Added to shopping there are a large range of different restaurants and bars. Stockwell is knows a Little Portugal and so there are many small to mid range restaurants featuring this cuisine. There are many parks and open spaces which are well looked after by Lambeth Council but also by many local residents enforcing the sense of community. We are blessed by such a selection that it does not feel like local residents or visits are missing any much needed amenities.

This area would be great if it went through urban regeneration, I feel like it needs more luxurious hot spots like shopping malls, restaurants and parks. Since the buildings are very old it doesn’t give that brand new appeal.

There are many cycle lanes which is good, but be careful you will be at risk of losing your bike to a thug. The main transport around her are buses, especially the P5 which goes through different routes. The nearest train station is Oval which is not bad at all.

The houses here are typically flats, nothing special at all. In fact the flats are pretty old are are dirty inside. The council makes an effort to keep them clean but have a hard time due to the graffiti and disrespect by gang members.

This area is very dangerous if you’re not familiar with it. Countless times I’ve seen people up to no good. Stay safe around this area. There aren’t really any top tier restaurants so I wouldn’t recommend looking around for any. The most you could find are your local chicken shops, or off licenses.
