The area is very upmarket and trendy and isn't in need of any regeneration yet as they have already come, increasing the number of affordable properties. The area is very suitable for disciplined children but like any other place there are still threats.
Transport
Brixton is home to the brixton tube station providing easy access to the Victoria line aswell as other major lines. Furthermore there is an abundance of busses heading to and away from central London.
Community
Anti-social behaviour can be apparent in certain places of the community. Many people here are rentors and families. There's is a very consistent bin collection. And never too much traffic noise.
Amenities
The range of and quality of local shops are immensely diverse and very cultured, ranging from different Caribbean specialties to Korean restaurants around the corner. Every need is fulfilled creating an environment thats more closer to home no matter where you're from! Brixton main road is also extremely useful as it harbours many stores and restaurants ranging from H&M to M&S. Furthermore, easy access to public transport such as busses to Marylebone and the brixton tube station are commodities that are often over looked but are significantly useful, especially for someone who has to travel to work or university. Brixton food markets such as brixton Village and electric avenue are both monumental in there historical value (electric avenue being the first street to use electric lights in the UK) aswell as there usefulness in providing access to a range of different stores. There isn't much missing as brixton is home to many primary and secondary schools aswell as local areas such as parks that are always a 15 minute walk away or the brixton library to go do some extended work, perhaps even stop by next door to watch a movie at the Ritzy cinema . However, what I've noticed in my time living here is that there isn't much of a bond between different groups or the community. Something which only the development of society can improve. In conclusion, brixton is a marvelous area with diverse and bustling culture and access to a vide variety of many stores, restaurants and kind people.
The ins and outs of Brixton, the best place South of the river!
All in all, my favourite thing about Brixton is that it’s area with a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds, which is what makes it a uniquely vibrant place to live. You won’t see me moving away anytime soon! The atmosphere in Brixton is definitely one of rapid gentrification - you can see the way in which it has gone rapidly upmarket in recent years, but has worked hard to retain it’s original character, and not lose sight of its roots. As with most inner London places, I wouldn’t necessarily called Brixton the most child friendly area, but then again I haven’t personally researched the local schools, which I’m sure are very good. Objectively speaking, Brixton’s probably not the safest area either, but I personally rarely feel unsafe in Brixton due to the volume of people always out and about. Also, I’d say it’s definitely good for pets with Brockwell Park so close by.
Transport
First things first, it’s transport heaven, with the super frequent Victoria Line (you never seem to be waiting longer than a minute!), and in non-COVID times, there is night tube every 10 minutes which is great. Brixton is very well served by buses, which go just about anywhere. I work in East London, and it is a little frustrating that the overground line passes over Brixton, but there is no station - if I want to use it I have to walk to Clapham High Street which is not ideal. Also, I’m a keen cycler and don’t feel like the 2 Santander Bike docking stations in central Brixton is anywhere near sufficient for the demand they get - they’re always empty in the mornings! I would like to see maybe 2-3 more dotted around. Brixton rush hour is not too much of an issue as it’s the end of the Victoria Line so I always get a seat, although the times I have used a rush hour bus there is definitely always a lot of traffic. I like the cycle superhighways near Brixton, they make me feel a lot safer when biking.

I live on Atlantic Road, so there is never a quiet moment! Either trains are coming and going, or people are using the shops below/going to Brixton Market or the Village Market. We have double glazing so I don’t really mind it, if anything I enjoy the character living in Central Brixton brings. I don’t own a car so can’t comment on parking availability, but the benefit of living just off Brixton Market is instead of having our own wheelie bin, the protocol is to leave our bin bags on the street where they are collected multiple times a day, so we never have an issue with things like running out of space in our bin. Most of the neighbouring shops haven’t converted their upstairs into apartments, so besides the flat above us we have no immediate neighbours, which is great. Both us and the flat above rent, and all of us are in our 20s.
Amenities
I live in SW9, Brixton, and it really is food heaven. I always pick up my fresh fruit and veg from Brixton Market on Electric Avenue, and it’s great to support the local traders. Also, every world cuisine you could want is in Brixton Village Market - my favourite is Okan, which does Japanese Okonomiyaki pancakes. Brixton also has all the convenience stores like Pret and Brixton, which is great when I’m dashing to work. The charity shops (Barnardos, British Heart Foundation etc) are a great browse, and always have some interesting clothing/furniture finds. I love the Ritzy cinema too, it’s great for seeing arthouse films as well as new releases. For green space, Brockwell Park is (literally) a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of central Brixton - it’s great for morning runs, and some parts of the park give fab views of the London skyline. One amenity that would be nice is a Morrisons close by, since I get 10% off shopping with my NHS staff card.
There are many primary and secondary schools to attend
The easy access to public transport is very beneficial as it let's me get to work aswell as pick up my children from school without having to deal with traffic. There are many primary and secondary schools to attend
Transport
Its easy to get to a bus stop that will take you to main brixton. And even easier to get into central London aswelk as anywhere else. There is also a tube station near by and an overground thats useful. Rush hour isn't too bad as the trains don't get packed but there can be traffic some times
Community
There is never that many parking spaces depending on where you live or how long your staying. Bin collections can be improved as people dump there large rubbish in corners sometimes.
Amenities
Shops that are located at brixton main road are exceptional as there is many retail stores such as TKmaxx etc. Restaurants however aren't as classy or impactful. Bars are good as usual. And local areas such as Windrush Square attract skaters trying to pull off movies
