I love that it's quite peaceful an area and has great transport links. The variety and access to local shops is good too Hammersmith, Kensington high Street and Westfield are all not far away. The area is generally on the good side - not too trendy, not too up market, not too rundown - sort of not too much of anything! I love the Mansion style architecture and how beautifully some of the blocks are designed... I do miss not having a leisure centre/ council managed swimming pool a bit closer to me but there are plenty of private gyms around and 'Fulham Pools' is about a 25/ 30 minute walk. Families seem to do well in the area with a few nice parks and green spaces. There are a spattering of schools locally - the primary schools are a mix of religious ones and some quite large Victorian style big buildings; mostly on the Ofsted 'good' rating and a few outstanding ones.
Transport
The transport links are great - with both the Piccadilly line and District line running from Barons Court/ Hammersmith; it's quick and easy to get into central London -30/35 mins. Also great for getting to and from the airport. The Overground station by Olympia links from Clapham Junction all the way up to Stratford. There are even Southern services going to Milton Keynes and East Croydon. There are some key bus routes for getting in to central London (takes about an hour) via Hyde Park and Knightsbridge; Notting Hill, Wandsworth, Richmond & Acton. Cycling lanes in H&F have been improving and during the pandemic a lot of effort was put onto getting temporary ones in place.

The area is quite afflunent as can be seen in the fancy car brands . Parking can be an issue with Olympia up the road. The street has a mix of families and young professionals. Generally it's a quiet area, and although quite close to the main road the noise of traffic doesn't feed through to where my flat is half way down. There's not really antisocial behaviour and although quiet I do feel safe coming back home late at night. I have found that it took a while to find a bit of community here but it's like that in many places living in a big city.

I moved in to the area about 3 years ago. The area itself is fairly residential with good access to other more lively parts not far away. Lots of shops, cafes and bars at Hammersmith, Shepherds Bush, Kensington and Earls Court. A good mix of different cuisines available - lots of Persian/ middle Eastern places are a speciality. Olympia exhibition centre has varied shows throughout the year and there are plans to redevelop it to have open access to restaurants/ cafes and a cinema there to in the near future. I love living so near to Holland park which is one of London's loveliest spaces with woodland area, the Japanese gardens and peacocks. My son loves the recently updated playground there. Another favourite are walks down by the river - a fair few pubs along the embankment help beautiful sunsets go down well. The Lyric theatre, the Apollo and Riverside Studios always have a vibrant mix of comedy/ shows and theatre on.

My area is strategically located between Hammersmith, where you can get Piccadilly, District line, Hammersmith and City and Circle line and Sheperdbush where you can get Central line for quick connection to central London. Not far from Hammersmith station (15 minutes by walk) you will find Kensington Olympia, for overground connection. There are plenty of busses too.
Community
Our house is just in front of the park, so it’s really peaceful. There’s not much traffic noise but definitely we can hear people passing by and kids playing. We don’t own a car but parking won’t be difficult if you have a residence permit. We have never experience anti social behaviour since we move here 3 years ago , but we have sometimes problem with foxes :) Bin collection is every Tuesday early morning and it works well. We often run out of bin bags though.

My area there is everything you need nearby: shops, all the big chains and lot of independent coffee shops. It is strategically locally between Hammersmith and Sheperdbush, where you can find a big Westfield. It’s an area mainly for family but there are also lot of young professionals who live here.

It's all homeowners so if you are a council tenant you will have a problem parking is no problems at all bin men come 2 times a week
